Well, in the interest of not getting too specific:
I found it interesting the entirely different foul pattern between the first half and the second. Â The teams weren\'t really playing that differently, but the Aggies were called for something like 10 of the first 15 fouls called in the game, while Stanford was called for a similar proportion early in the second half. The fact that Stanford had the only two players foul out was kind of weird, considering the foul trouble the Aggies were in early.
I think Adams got away with quite a few shoulder blocks to create room, including ones that ended up being called charges. Â The charge called on Mel was a bit bogus; I think she got fouled on the drive, then ran into an Aggie defender who I think was either under or even on the other side of the hoop (really would like to see the NBA\'s circle under the rim in NCAAs).
I had more arguments with some of the out-of-bounds calls (the one where the ref indicated the ball came off Jeanette\'s toe, when an Aggie defender had basically dived into Jeanette\'s legs and tapped it out, comes to mind).
But Mel\'s 5th was balanced by the one called on Adams late that put Nneka on the line.
The underreported stat of the game? Â A&M 10-10 FTs. Â Stanford 13-19, including the missed front end of at least 2 1and1s.
One other issue? Â TWO LAYUPS IN THE LAST MINUTE? Â Especially the second to last one, where Nneka backed off as White drove, rather than putting her at the line.
A final one. Â Jeanette\'s tendency to not fight her way over picks REALLY cost us. Â Contra MT, the last A&M 3-pointer came when Pohlen got caught way too easily not stepping over a wing pick by Adams, giving Carter a free look at a right-on-the-arc shot.
