Stanford QBs -

Suggestions for "somebody else" might be Steve Stenstrom, John Paye,
Mark Butterfield Todd Husak (the last guy to lead us to the Promised Land), maybe even Gene Washington as an athlete.
Most people said Elway before this year, but as a
college quarterback, he never got us to the bowl while Plunkett got to the Rose Bowl. Frankie Albert\'s team was undefeated.

You mean Todd Husak right? (I\'m assuming the Liberty Bowl isn\'t the promised land.)
Frankie Albert played in a completely different era; tough to compare. Â But, how would Frankie Albert fare now; how would Luck fare in 1940? Â My god, Luck would be a freak from outer space.

You\'re right, Todd Husak.
As for Albert, that\'s what makes it fun to compare. What would some guy who barely saw the T formation do in an NFL style attack? The game has changed radically even since Plunkett, who goes back a little more than half as long ago as Albert, so even that\'s a tough comparison.

I voted Elway, but almost consider it a 3-way tie with Andrew and Plunkett. On skill, I think it\'s Elway. Polish, I\'d go with Luck. Leadership and intangibles probably Plunkett.
Plunkett did not have the lineage/tutelage that the others did prior to Stanford, which makes what he did even more amazing. Plus he did it in an era when USC/UCLA were just stacked. Kind of like Luck\'s team, the program had done very little in the decade before he got there.
Luck gets a lot of points for the winning percentage, and I\'d put him second on intangibles. I think if he has a great bowl game and/or plays one more year he could get to #1 with me.

I can\'t answer this poll until at least after the bowl game, and then possibly after Luck\'s body of work at Stanford has been completed...
