My daughter and I visited the Jamestown site last summer and watched the excavation in progress.  They did not tell us at the time what they were excavating, and now we know.  For any who live in or travel through the northern Virginia area and have not visited Jamestown recently, the archaeology museum a couple hundred yards away from the original site is absolutely terrific--the best small museum I have been too.  They have advanced our understanding of Jamestown dramatically over the last 20 years.  My teenager enjoyed that museum more than anything else we did in Virginia or DC.
