Great article.

Colter turned down a Stanford scholarship to play at Virginia?  Ah well...

Take the time to read this - Redrum - 12-17-2010

There have been lots of stories about Andrew, his father and his family.  I mean, the story itself is compelling.   This one gives more insight into the family and the crash than I\'ve read anywhere.

I didn\'t go to Princeton because my hot shot older cousin was there...

Great article. I was especially moved by the quotes from Harbaugh\'s letter to Janet.

(If he offered a scholarship to Willie, does that mean he intends to stay at Stanford until, say 2017...?  ;))

What a great article. The subtext you gather about Harbaugh makes him seem all the more impressive of a coach and a leader, and it\'s hard to swallow the possibility that a school could pony up millions upon millions simply because they think Harbaugh would bring more wins, when his true worth of a coach is so much more.

Morally centered, ethical people don\'t actually DESPISE money .... it\'s just not all they value.

Harbaugh has left other jobs and found success.   He\'s watched his father and brother leave fulfilling jobs and find success elsewhere.   He\'ll look at his life goals and then decide if they can best be fulfilled at Stanford, just as most of us would do if we found ourselves in his situation.

I\'m hopefully optimistic that having made his evaluation Harbaugh will choose to stay - the match with Stanford seems very good - but I won\'\'t let myself be shocked if he leaves.

Harbaugh\'s father was the head coach at Western Kentucky for 14 seasons, won a national championship there, and retired from there. So there is a role model in the family who can speak to the advantages of longevity and stability, for what that\'s worth.

It\'s really cool that Harbaugh would write a lengthy letter to Phillips\' mom expressing his condolences. Some may say it\'s kind of crazy to try and demand all the players write a letter to their parents, but it\'s easy to see where the sentiment comes from after such a tragedy.

Harbaugh is a good football coach, but in this incident he has really represented the university and Stanford community well. Once again, I feel proud to have him as head football coach at Stanford.

I\'m really glad that we didn\'t hear about the season dedication. So many times in sports, a big show is made around a player or coach getting hurt and the team dedicating the season to him. Then, the TV announcers discuss the dedication, and the cameras zoom in on the team patch or helmet logo. It almost turns it into a show.

Our not hearing about shows that the concern was for the Phillips family. That\'s refreshing.
