Re: And, schadenfreude - yvonne - 03-26-2015

Or how about this Detroit News story:

Quote:http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/2015/03/26/qb-kj-costello-picks-michigan-over-stanford/70510014/

Dude, he didn't even visit your school! It wasn't Stanford vs. Michigan. It was Stanford vs. USC and Michigan.

Yutzes!

Re: And, schadenfreude - CrazedZooChimp - 03-26-2015

I really do hope Harbaugh fails at Michigan, not for any animosity towards him or their school, but because the attitude of Michigan fans who are completely convinced that his arrival signals nothing but 14-0 and multiple national championships is so irritating.  I'd love to see them continue their mediocrity for the near future (until Harbaugh leaves, then I'll go back to not caring about them at all).

Re: And, schadenfreude - washingtonismoney - 03-26-2015

I'll actually defend the website a little bit for this one. Generally, when you create articles in content management systems, they automatically generate a URL. And once that URL is generated, it's really hard to change -- there's an inertia there.

The solution here is, maybe don't be so quick on the draw on posting your story. (Or create multiple versions.)

Re: And, schadenfreude - yvonne - 03-26-2015

Another option: Write your story locally, then add it to your CMS. (BTW, you can change your URL in a CMS.)

Not me. I'll cheer for Harbaugh, because  I'm grateful for all that he did for Stanford. I'll cheer for Michigan, unless they're playing a Pac-12 school not named U-S-C, because I'm an old fart, and college football is more interesting when tOSU and Michigan are both really good.

I'm dreaming of Stanford vs. Michigan in the Rose Bowl--although if the two teams met in the College Football Playoff, I wouldn't complain.

You can but it's annoying and creates negative downstream effects -- you have to change every incoming link that references it. Not generally worth the bother.

That's only a big deal AFTER you've published. You can create the article with your dream title and then change it before you hit publish.

Oh, yeah, in total agreement (which I think I mentioned in my original post).

A primer on fan psychological phenomena - Redrum - 03-27-2015

A mix of self-reinforcing belief , denial and creative thinking.  But in a funny way it is reassuring to see the old USC myths and self-worship live on.  Every explanation for Costello's choice is given and disparaged.  The only one not given much credence:  A young QB looked at USC and looked at Stanford and decided Stanford was a better choice.

just to pile on - slide - 03-27-2015

$c has offered the following '16 QB prospects:

Costello -- committed to Stanford
Shea Patterson -- committed to Ole Miss
Malik Henry -- committed to FSU
Khalil Tate -- committed to Arizona

may be a planned QB gap year for the Sark?

I do not believe the story presented in the link. Thoughts?

What story? That Sark didn't really want Costello?

What are the chances of losing a recruit after a verbal commitment? While it's nice to hear a top player chose the good guys, I can't get too excited until LOI day.
