Interview with Alex Carter - BostonCard - 02-03-2015

http://www.newerascouting.com/2015/02/02/2015-draft-interview-alex-carter-cb-stanford/

Reading it, I think it is pretty clear why he went to the NFL (though the interviewer didn't ask anything about academics).  It is a brave new world when we get guys who come to Stanford for the football and the chance to go to the NFL more than anything else.  I wish him luck in the NFL, and I do hope he comes back to finish his degree.

Based on the subject of the thread, I was expecting an interview with the guy who created the X Files.  Or the former Stanford baseball player.  Or perhaps BC misspelled the name of the former Minnesota Viking WR.

I thought it was going to be Cris Carter talking about how all kids should go to school here or something.

I hope he does well but I hope he comes back to campus in the offseason to workout and to finish his degree.

I'll edit the first post so the right name shows in the thread index.

Re: Interview with Alex Carter - Stymie - 02-03-2015

Why exactly do we worry about Mr. Carter's getting his degree when two of the greatest athletes ever to enter the Farm, Mr. McEnroe and Mr. Woods, never came as close as he has to graduating?

I didn't get much of anything from reading that article; it pretty much could have been copied for most any player entering the draft early.
Quote:My family and I discussed it for awhile and I came to the conclusion that it was my time. I have been a 3 year starter... and I was playing as a true freshman. Playing in the NFL has been my dream since I was young and now that the opportunity has arisen I’m going to take it! I feel confident in my abilities moving forward.
Of course maybe that in itself is something to take from the article.

It a brave new back-to-the-future world of 2003, when Teyo Johnson and Kwame Harris left after their Junior years for the NFL. We've seen it before - just not lately.

Thanks admin.  Pretty embarrassed to have gotten a former player's name wrong

Thanks, CS.

I didn't read the article, and actually thought it was an interview with Cris Carter. Many ex-NFL guys have touted Stanford.
