Re: Tara\'s team hammers Texas - sheriand - 11-28-2010
It was a very satisfying game, with some really strong play, and a very fast pace, offset by the high frequency of fouls called, which particularly dragged in the late part of the game. Â I don\'t know whether they showed it on TV, but the football team was there and came onto the court with the Axe just before the first half ended. Â After that most of the team left, but I noticed Owen Marecic in the stands until the end of the game. Â
Garvin, I think you are referencing Sarah James, the third freshman, who came in a couple times in the second half and made some nice shots.

agree with Garvin\'s comments on Tara\'s team. I\'m very, very happy with the progress they\'ve made in 2 weeks. Kokenis at the pg and Boothe at the 5 were definite upsides today. My only nitpick (besides ticky tack calls by jr. high refs) was too many TOs (17) and boxing out better (and grabbing and holding) on to the ball when we get it. Pohlen, Pedersen and Nneka are studs, pure and simple!
At one point, we had Pohlen, Pedersen, Nneka and sister Chiney on the bench with 2 fouls each. Normally, that would have led to disaster, but we are too deep and talented. Yay! Tara has a lot of personnel to use in many different formations. I really like our chances vs. both Evil Empires - at TN on Dec. 19th and at Maples vs. Geno on Dec. 30th.
edited to add- Fox Sports showed the football on the court with the Axe. Very Cool!
Go Card!

Slight non sequitur--Texas women\'s basketball is somewhat overrated, imho. Â They haven\'t had a decent team in a while from what I can remember. Â
(Then again, my standard for decent teams is set by Stanford women\'s basketball.)

Basketball, I wanted to play ball, but I\'m not the height.

Further nitpick: it\'s Sara James (vs. Sarah Boothe).
I happened to be sitting in front of a group of Sara\'s fans at the game. I think they must have been high school friends of hers. Boy did they scream when she was in the game!

Quote:Sorry about Sarah "Evans." (Which I\'ve now fixed, just in case anybody thought wbbfan was hallucinating.) (Well, she might be, for all I know, but not about this.) I knew somebody in junior high by that name, and now continually use that name when I mean to say Sarah James. It\'s going to be a long four years.
Maybe you were thinking of Sara Evans, the country singer?
Well, he was thinking about SOMETHING, all right - Redrum - 11-29-2010
Funny, in all the things she\'s done, including haunting garvin\'s hall of memories, Â she played on my soccer teams back when I coached. Â That girl has lived a dozen lifetimes, and James Bond said you only live twice.

Sara Evans, the pride of mid-Missouri. A farm girl from Boonesboro. She didn\'t play basketball, though; her talents were more focused on the mandolin.
