This is the thread for chronicling our LSU-Arkansas-related despair.

A very sloppy game that Arkansas leads 7-0. The media have been hyping Ryan Mallett as a first-round pick, but the difference between Mallett and Luck is like the difference between velveeta and brie.

Velveeta throws a nice sideline ball to start an 85-yard catch-and-run touchdown, putting Arkansas up 14-7.

Sloppy game indeed. LSU center snaps the ball over his QB\'s shoulder while the QB is stepping forward to change the play, Arkansas recovers with a golden opportunity. On the next play Mallett throws a cheesy interception in the end zone. Oops.

Sloppy but really entertaining! Arkansas forces a punt and gets the ball on their 20 with 6 seconds left in the half. Mallett throws a long pass, the two defenders run into each other, and it goes for an 80-yard touchdown. 21-14 Arkansas.

I think we will get passed by Wisconsin in the BCS anyway.

Wisconsin made Northwestern look bad... but maybe they are bad? Haven\'t been following them and didn\'t see much of the game, but their tackling was abysmal on the plays I saw.
Meanwhile Arkansas has an 8-point lead and the ball with 12 minutes left.
Why not be optimistic?

I\'m not so sure Wisky passes us in the event of an LSU loss and Stanford win. They already outrank us in the human polls, and that\'s the only place style points come into play. It\'s the computers that provide us with an edge over Wisconsin, and with LSU (hypothetically) losing and Stanford (hypothetically) winning, a team ahead of Stanford losses, and Stanford will have the benefit of beating a fairly highly-regarded Oregon State team (using the Sagarin ratings as a proxy). Meanwhile, margin of victory won\'t come into play with the computers, because they\'re banned from considering that. I think we\'re in good shape if results hold.

Thank Bobby Petrino\'s never-quit attitude:
Quote:Never expect Arkansas to take a knee and run out the clock. Locked in a 14-14 tie with LSU, Arkansas had the ball on its 20 with just three seconds left in the first half. The typical move -- the safe move -- is to take a knee and go into halftime with a tie. That\'s probably what 119 coaches in the FBS would have done. But Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino wasn\'t going to play it safe. He called for a pass and Ryan Mallett hit Cobi Hamilton in the middle of the field. When two LSU players collided trying to make the tackle, Hamilton raced downfield for an 80-yard touchdown and a 21-14 lead. It was the pivotal play in a 31-23 Arkansas victory.
