Leadership - StanFan88 - 11-16-2014

Saw a comment on one postgame thread about this team lacking leadership.  I'd say it lacks vocal leadership, which is why it was John Flacco who was unleashing a tirade in the locker room last night and not Tarpley, Richards, Montgomery, Peat, etc

I think the leadership - and the personality of this football team - is just a reflection of Shaw.  The captains are the strong, silent types - chosen by players who are now primarily Shaw recruits.  Compare to the captains of the past who were Harbaugh recruits.

And iirc - Flacco was a Harbaugh recruit

Watching Graham and fire in the sidelines last night in ASU's loss was interesting.  I would like to see Shaw at least get fired up and be a leader.  The team reacts to its leader.  I look at Mora and a ton of others and they motivate.  Yes, we are full of 4-5 star kids...but as it has been said the kids morph into thier leader.  Let's see some energy and excitement from the top.

Re: Leadership - French Rage - 11-16-2014

Anyone catch Sanders and a few other guys running directly into the tunnel after the game instead of going over to the band for the alma mater?  They came back out a minute later and rejoined the team, but I'm hoping there was a reason they first left other than that they just didn't feel like it.

Leadership is comparatively easy when winning.  The true test of character comes when losing.  We shall see how all of our coaches and players react to this difficult test.  I think the answer will come against C.al.  If everyone plays with great intensity and maximum focus,  then they will pass the test and something positive could, in the long run, come out of this experience.
