Db's vs Utah -

Why are we playing number 11 on our defensive backs so much? Whenever Utah needed a play they went right at him. That's good coaching on the Utahs part-go at a true Freshman. Why in the world aren't we playing Oglubude, Whitfield and Lloyd more? At least the latter two are juniors and are bigger, faster and stronger I don't get it.
I also didn't don't understand why Shaw didn't kick the Fg with a minute and a half left ...that's exact same spot that Williamson made it from in overtime. I just threw a rock through my TV!

As for your second question, that was a 51 yarder, longer than Williamson's personal best. Considering the kind of season Williamson has had and the fact that Utah needed just 20 yards to be in field goal range if Williamson missed, I have no issue with Shaw's decision. There is a long list of other questionable decisions, but this is not one of them.

As a former DB #11 sat on the route expecting something they ran the whole game.Rookie Mistake by the way that was the only play he gave up.Utah had 200 yards going into OT.Second half by D was outstanding!

Bigger and stronger, yes. Faster and quicker than Alexander? Not even close.
Whitfield unfortunately has been burned in garbage time plays. You really want to see him go up against their best receiver?
I do not think Lloyd has even seen the field this year on defense and is not a natural safety.
Oglubude would have been on ok choice but Alexander was on the field and probably has better man-to-man coverage skills than most safeties on our team - Hoffpauir was burned against ASU on a similar play and he is bigger, stronger, and maybe faster. Alexander was beat after making a mistake. It happens.

I remembe Lloyd being on field in garbage time & making a tackle, but I can't recall which game

Against OSU he saved a touchdown by teaming up with someone else (Pippens?).

Looking stats I also remember him making that goal line tackle against Army. Everything I have heard he is going to be a good option next year. In the Spring game he looked pretty natural to me and others commented the same. I agree Whitfield has been burned on his limited playing time. Maybe since we are 5-5 now we do start to play those other guys for next year a bit more - but let's get bowl eligible!
