This week in opponents -

Well, ASU's shellacking of Notre Dame has already been discussed. Nice win for the devils and the Pac-12. Nice to see also that Notre Dame was exposed; just wish it had been us to have exposed them. We'll see how they do against USC... can I root for a meteor to strike?
UCLA is having its way with Washington, proving again, that this year, the South owns the North. Oregon is the only league competitive team in our division, I'm afraid. Also downgrade the probability of a win against UCLA. Grrrr.
In, perhaps, a mild upset, Washington State beat Oregon State earlier today. Luke Falk, a redshirt freshman, led the Cougars. I'm sad that Halliday won't get to end his career at WSU, but even more so, worried that they will be competitive in the future since they look to have a decent QB.
Arizona is beating Colorado in a game that is probably closer than it should be. But, since we play neither, the result is irrelevant to us.
Utah and Oregon play tonight, which will give us a bit of an idea just how good the Utes are, and how much we should worry about them.

At this point I want Oregon and ASU to finish strong, both in order to demonstrate Pac-12 dominance (thus setting us up for future successes) and to clear the logjam at the "top" of the Pac-12 bowls.

So far, Utah D looks like Standford D from prior years. Party in the backfield. They did let Mariota go on a long romp. But Ducks got nothing out of it. Offense is having a fairly easy time against Duck D. No problem finishing first drive.

Utah just pulled the blooper of the year. Utah QB throws a successful bomb. However, the receiver starts partying too early. He drops the ball before crossing the goal line. While Utah is partying in the end zone. Oregon picks up the ball and runs to the other end for 6. Tie game.

Utah with one of the most boneheaded plays in the history of football.

It could have been 14-0 Utah. Now it's tied 7-7!

And just like that 14-7 Dux. No fear.

Oregon up 24-10 at halftime

Utes lose a WR, ,Tim Patrick, with what appeared to be a serious injury. It's a position where they're already dealing with the injury that has taken out Dres Anderson.
Stats show Patrick had 13 receptions on the year, and I believe that's before the three balls he caught tonight.

They are giving Oregon a game. We are so sunk!

I take some solace in that we have been playing better at home than on the road.

Oregon has finally pulled away. Stanford coming off a bye, at home, should have an edge over a disappointed Ute team. They also lost their QB Thompson, who started the game against Oregon, I believe.
Utah *might* still be the better team, but I like Stanford's chances given the timing of the game.
By the way, Ducks lose their monster TE, Pharoah Brown, who had to be carted off the field. And they lost their center, who also may have sustained a serious injury. I'd guess that the South will take the Pac-12 this year.

We played Oregon at the worst possible time. It was the healthiest they'd been since conference play started. Too bad for us.
Yeah, we DID play Oregon at worst possible time - Redrum - 11-09-2014
Once they started the game clock at the kickoff in the first quarter.
