Shaw interviewed by SI -

In a hunt for clicks (#engagement), they've rather annoyingly split the video over multiple segments. But here you are:

(Though...SI mysteriously pluralizes Cardinal.)

My question exactly. Seems like a lot of work. The internet really makes you lazy, doesn't it?

Nothing jaw-dropping except I come away, once again, with total respect for David Shaw. A lot of what he says is boilerplate in these, but even when he is in that mode he impresses me. I guess because the way in which he expresses these standard responses reflects a sincerity and depth that comes through very strongly. Also, I liked hearing him say that he expects to stay around at Stanford for a very long time. Even though he has expressed that sentiment from the beginning, it is nice to hear it reiterated.
I did, however, have to sit through the same Ford F-150 ad three times for about six minutes of content. At least they could have had a different ad each time.
Speaking of ads... -

This shouldn't surprise me, but I find that the ads have become very personalized to my tastes, almost hair-raisingly so. Five of the last six video ads I've seen point directly at some of my hobbies or clear preferences.

For me it's more that I really hate non-written content. I'd much rather read a transcript than watch a video. Especially if that video is the same information I've been reading for weeks.
