Open Comments on the Army Game - thunder_chik - 09-13-2014

Unfortunately, I can only get it on radio.  This thread is for comments as the game happens...

Touchdown, pass to Cajuste!

Would prefer Montgomery be kept off the field for punt returns in this game* -- keep a few miles off the treads, you know.

* (and not because we're not forcing punts, evil reality genie.)

Mismatch on both sides of the ball.  Let's just avoid injuries and get out with a win.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - thunder_chik - 09-13-2014

I suspect that as soon as we are reasonably ahead (21 points), Shaw will send in the 2nd and 3rd stringers.  I do not think he will seek a blowout.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - 82 Card - 09-13-2014

TV showed army guys in full green camo with Stanford fans behind them in shorts sweating away in the heat. Weather.com says temperature is 82 F. Looked like it was a lot warmer than that in the stands.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - TrumpCard - 09-13-2014

Why couldn't the punt coverage team do that last week?

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - TrumpCard - 09-13-2014

Vaughters is dominant today.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - jeboody - 09-13-2014

ty looked like he was limping after the fair catch

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - PrinceLightfoot - 09-13-2014

Maybe it is just me, but given our punt returners are lethal I do not understand why we bother with a punt block package instead of a max punt return protection setup.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - TrumpCard - 09-13-2014

The offense looked better against U.C. Davis.  I wonder if it can do the job against real competition.

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - washingtonismoney - 09-13-2014

After a nice first drive, the offense has completely devolved. Hogan's decision making has been poor, and that 3rd and 7 draw was a very weak call. (Hogan audibled, wonders Drukarev? https://twitter.com/StanfordRivals/status/510910327366512640)

Agreed. This just seems too pedestrian. I want to see some fire in the belly of our offense!

The defense is playing fine, but if the offense doesn't get a lot better real soon we are in for a long season.

zzzzzzzzzzz

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - washingtonismoney - 09-13-2014

Entire team just seems listless and full of mistakes. SC hangover?

Re: Open Comments on the Army Game - fullmetal - 09-13-2014

If the score is 7-0 going into the half, I gotta wonder about this year.

tbf, was... 20-13 at the half last year. But not the best look.

What if we saw some no-huddle? What if we tried some things that worked before?

The good news is that all of the problems with the offense are things that experience can fix.  The bad news, of course, is that those problems haven't been fixed yet.
