Stanford unfair advantage? -
OutsiderFan - 09-05-2014
After just seeing the heat overtake one of the ladies in the U.S. Open Women's Semi-final, on a hot day here in the northeast, I'm thinking about the heat factor on the game tomorrow.Â
Germany used the Stanford-invented cooling gloves to reduce the body temps of the players at half-time in the hot Brazilian climates at the World Cup. Will Stanford's football team be using the gloves at half-time tomorrow, while the U$C players resort to troglodyte technology like cold towels and misting machines?
I think it's worth mentioning because it's suppose to be 82 tomorrow. The teams will be playing in the heat of the day, under the sun most of the time. These two haven't played at this time of day for a while. Every meeting I can remember in the last 6-7 years was kicked off at or later than 3:30 local time, when the heat hasn't been a factor. It could be tomorrow, and the Stanford cooling glove could be an unsung difference maker, right?

If we do use the gloves, it will give Sark another excuse for losing.

Ok, so I dream Stanford football. Last night's:
We receive opening kick-off and go no huddle hurry up with three wide, Mongomery, Cajuste, Rector. Hogan pitches to Sanders who takes it to the house. 7 - 0
Kickoff. McCafferty's hit jars the ball loose at the 30, Stanford recovers. Hurry-up, no huddle, Hogan fakes to Sanders, tosses to Cajuste in the end zone. 14 - 0
Kickoff. They misplay the catch but manage to get it to the 10. Tarpley buries Kessler. Fumble. David Parry, of all people, scoops it up and runs into the endzone with three trojans on his back. 21 - 0
Kick-off. Return to the 22. A frrsh USC offense moves the ball, but tkaes 12 plays to score. 21 - 7
Kickoff. Sanders to the house. 27 - 7. shaw goes for two. 29 - 7
Halftime. Sark says to interviewer, "we will be filing a complaint with the commissioner but we'll be fine."
2nd half settles down, Stanford back to huddling. They drive to our 11 when Momma falls to the ground in heat exhaustion and cramps. They recruit the tuba player to play tackle. Kessler steps under center, takes a look around, calls time. Removes helmet and exits stadium. They recuit trombone player to play QB; find out he isn't a student but rather a street performer from Santa Monica. Use him anyway. They punt on 3rd down. Shaw takes pity. Puts in the rugby team. Final, 43 - 7. In delayed postgame interview Sark demands rule change. All opponents must provide and abide by written game plan and play sequence, othereise trojans threaten to bolt and join Mountain West. Meanwhile Washington explodes and wins brobdingnagian under new coach. Next up: Army.
You read it here first. Film on Sunday.

My (football) dreams are not so explicit, but mine involves Stanford's 3rd team scoring in the last seconds of the 2nd half. The score is 41-14 in our favor, and rather than let Wiliamson/Ukrina kick the EP Shaw evilly runs the Y37banana (sic) going for two, but McCaffrey takes the hand off and runs the wrong way (just because--this college FB is just too easy for him), running OB just before breaching the TD line. I win the Cardboard score projection contest. Magic!

To Garvin's point: I am trying to coax The Greatest Dollie Ever to come to the Utah game. The odds are not good because after years of the Malibu life, she prefers horses to humans and live in the middle of Nowhere, Montana.
But I will keep trying.
As to TGDE, she was a
much sexier Ali McGraw. Dollies don't get better than that, no matter how many of you fans press for the '70-'71 trio.
