I'm a Dreamer and I Am Stanford - Spiny_Norman - 05-27-2014

Stanford has posted a new video featuring Stanford senior athletes talking about their experience.  It continues the theme I Am Stanford.

I just cannot say enough about how proud I am for the group of athletes who have competed for Stanford this year.  It's always an extraordinary group, but consider the awards this year:

David Yankey, Trent Murphy, Ty Montgomery - consensus All Americans
Dwight Powell - Pac 12 basketball scholar-athlete of the year
Chiney Ogumwike - Pac 12 basketball scholar-athlete of the year
Chiney Ogumwike - Wallace Sterling Award for service to the Stanford community
Patrick Rodgers - Ben Hogan award for top college amateur
Cameron Wilson - individual NCAA champion (only the 3rd Stanford men's golfer ever to win an NCAA individual title)
The Pete Cutino Award for top water polo players will be announced this weekend.  A Stanford women's player should win that one too.

I am sure that there are more awards and recognition that can be cited.  We'll be saying farewell to some of the most accomplished athletes in Stanford history at the end of this year.  Those who are able to attend the Athletic Board Awards Luncheon next month should be in for a real treat.

More awards for Stanford athletes.

Patrick Rodgers wins the Jack Nicklaus Collegiate Player of the Year Award as recognized by the golf coaches association.

Annika Dries wins the Pete Cutino award (for the 2nd time) as the top player in women's water polo.  During her time at Stanford, Annika won 2 national championships and a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics with the national team.  That's a lot of hardware in addition to a diploma.
