OT: Take Five - BostonCard - 04-29-2014

I very tangentially made a reference to the famous Dave Brubeck Quartet jazz piece, which is among my very favorites.  I just got forwarded a link to this rendition by the Sachal Music studio (in Pakistan), which is a pretty awesome rendition.

Boston Card - thanks for sharing! I just got to your post and loved listening to them. I've heard his song so many times but nothing like that. It was inspiring.

Another OT: Ike Jenkins was the music director at La Cumbre Junior High School in Santa Barbara in the 70s. He had played with Dave Brubeck. My brother was in the Jazz Band and drum major. Their Jr. High jazz band would compete against High School and College jazz bands and would be the only one that would receive standing ovations but often would be disqualified for not playing "traditional" jazz. When the International Volleyball Association formed their professional co-ed league (Wilt Chamberlain was a high profile owner/player) the Santa Barbara Spikers hired this Jr. High School jazz band to play at all their games.

I've mentioned before how much I love this song.  Thanks for posting, BC.  Inspired me to search for other versions.  A mark of a great song is how great it sounds through different interpretations.  Here's one on ukelele.

Nothing beats the original.  My favorite appearance of it was on the West Wing.  Can't find the clip.  It just fit the scene so perfectly. The rhythm and the melody.

During my effort to listen to every piece of rock music ever recorded during my long commute, I came across this psychedelic rock take on Take Five.
