I remember when he was the little guy dressed all in orange sitting in the row behind the Tennessee bench...

Head coach at 23...wow.  LA Tech must be a little desperate.  I'm sure there are plenty of blooded veteran coaches out there looking for jobs, aren't there?  But I wish him well--take the job by the horns and run with it.

A sad part of getting old is realizing what you don't remember -- In grad school in the 70s, a friend & I used to drop in on almost all of the Texas WBB games, probably dating from just before Jody Conradt's tenure (who started coaching at UTexas 2 years after Pat Summitt started coaching at Tennessee).  I remember all the struggle to get women's athletics going, leading up to her hiring, but I don't remember, say, the first game that she coached.

When I came to this area in 1981, it was a step down to go to the Stanford games.  But I did attend them, frequently at first, but less frequently as work got more involved & my children took more commitment (and by the late 80s, more frequently again).  Sadly, I don't remember the first game of that coach they hired just 4 years later.

I have found this to be more beneficial than sad.
