NFL Playoff Thread - Bruce Wang - 01-11-2014

I imagine there are a number of you watching football right now.  I'm cheering for the Seahawks right now.  I hate Carroll, but the Shermanator's profile is just too important.  I've made the point here before that his success is arguably more important than Luck's to Stanford recruiting.  Just look at the number of talented high school DBs interested in Stanford right now.  I contend a lot of that credit goes to Sherman.

I just can't bring myself to root for Seattle, their fans are too insufferable.

Also, with the announcer talking up the one lineman's move to LG, I found myself wondering if Seattle might draft Yankey.

As much as I dislike Carrol, I enjoy Seattle's style of play. And having Baldwin and Sherman succeed is always nice to watch. But I'll root for the 49ers in the NFC, if it comes to that.

Rooting for the Saints make it a game so the 49ers don't have to travel to Seattle.

Re: NFL Playoff Thread - stanfordite - 01-11-2014

I'm sorry but I despise Seattle and Carroll who is a cheater in my mind and Sherman has burned his bridges with me.  He is a traitor to Harbaugh and to the Bay Area.  In fact I would love to see Seattle lose their football team to Oklahoma City like they lost the Sonics.

How about a nice pick six for Sherman, but a Saints win?!!  That would be OK.  Right?
It is interesting that the crowd really is struggling with the rain.

I am not a big niner fan and would want Baldwin and Sherman to win if they had a different coach.

How's that? I had heard that Harbaugh was more the "traitor" as Sherman was trying to improve his draft position, by speaking poorly of Sherman to coaches. If anything, I would consider him a traitor to Luck for touting Wilson ahead of his former teammate, but in the end he's just supporting his teammate.

Re: NFL Playoff Thread - French Rage - 01-11-2014

The way I see it, a Seahawks win means:
- Both Baldwin and Sherman advance
- Harbaugh vs Carroll gets to be for even bigger bragging rights
- 49ers vs Seahawks for the Super Bowl spot is just plain entertaining (as a Skins fan but someone who think it's more interesting to have the local team and especially Harbaugh do well)

On the other hand, if the Saints win and the 49ers do, then they get a home game, which is nice too.

Regarding Harbaugh and Sherman, let's face it, those are two explosive personalities who are probably going to have some conflict.  Doesn't mean we can't root for both.

You go and play for your college coach's arch nemesis, then you are stabbing your college coach in the back.  Any of Harbaugh's players who go and play for Pete the Cheat is a traitor.  I hope Harbuagh tries to steal Sherman and Baldwin back or they decide to join Luck, Fleener, and Whalen in Indy, then the media would call them the Indianapolis Cardinal.

AGENT: OK, Sherm, you got drafted by the Seahawks.
SHERMAN: Nope.
AGENT: But you got drafted by them. You have to play for them.
SHERMAN: Nope. Not a traitor.
