A message from your beloved rival to the north - oregonblitzkrieg - 10-24-2013

I've been rooting for Stanford to win every game so far this season and to get fat with success. Go beat the beavs this weekend, but for our sake do it just barely. The rooting and goodwill ends after this weekend. You're looking quite succulent in the standings and feasting upon you is something Oregon fans have been looking forward to for an entire year. There is a favor that must be repaid. And it must be done in your house. So don't slip up. Beat the barkrats, go Cardinal, get ready for it on Nov. 8th.  ;)

A word to the wise (and to you, oregonblitz)...

This board does not have time for trolls.  They don't get their egos massaged here.  That is all.

Well, I don't know about the Ducks' plan, but the good guys will be ready to go on Nov. 7. If y'all don't show up until the 8th, that's fine.

Hey OBK, were you the one who sold Lyerla that coke?  Try not to put the profits up your nose.

We'll send the police to the Oregon team hotel on Nov. 6th and see how many players are available to take the field the next day.  "That's just oregano you're smelling, officer, we swear..."

At least the weather might be nicer for you on Nov. 7, OBK.  You looked miserable last year.

I know Cal is supposed to be our rivalry game, but I have never felt so good after a victory as when we beat the Oregon Ducks last year.  Having to listen to their smug, arrogant fans all year talking about we had no chance to hang with Oregon speed got old fast.  Then, we went to their house and essentially shut their offense down, limiting them to 14 points.  I would love to do that again.

Cops better get there early.  Remember these immortal words:  "We smoked it all"

You played a good game. But you got a lot of help from our FG kicker!

I don't think there were many Oregon fans, or national media types, that thought the FG kicker would be needed to beat Stanford in Eugene last year.

That's nice, but you got a lot of help from uncharacteristic turnovers and some kicker errors of our own. The "luck" narrative from ducks fans is pretty amusing. You all got beat.

I was in Oregon for the game last year, spent halftime in the Beer Hall (awesome concept) and all the Duckfans were so cocky and confident, talking about "now the blowout will begin." It was great to feel the tension increase with every passing minute as Stanford continued to dominate the Ducks.  And then, the final whistle, music to my ears!  I think some of the Oregon fans did not appreciate my suggestion that they book hotels in San Antonio right then because the Alamo Bowl is very popular...

Reminds me of the 2009 game. We had some loud mouth Duckies sitting near us. At half time, with Stanford up 31-14, the Duckies were outwardly unfazed saying: "I guess we'll only win by a couple of touchdowns." Actually, the at kind of self-confidence is kind of admirable to me. I've always wondered what it would be like to have that kind of supreme faith in your team, that even down by 3 scores at half time to feel so assured the come back was on its way.

I'm so glad that the UO game is after the "bye." I think there would be some risk of looking ahead if the game were immediately next week. With the Utah game fresh in the player's minds and no game next Saturday, hopefully our boys are laser focused on the task at hand.

Re: A message from your beloved rival to the north - Leftcoast - 10-25-2013

Oregon is very, very good, a legitimate BCS team and perhaps of National Championship caliber.  Beating them in our house would be fun but I'm sure no Cardinal fan is taking a win for granted.

Duck fans?  Well, part of the fun of beating the Ducks and the Pete Carrol era Trojans is watching that self assurance and hubris come crashing down.

Here's a retrospective on Tavita Pritchard and Stanford Football's own tipping point.

I used to have that kind of confidence in my team.  I was eight at the time.

In an eight-year-old, that's admirable (and pretty cute).  In an adult, it's delusional and/or obnoxious.
