and he wants to commit to Stanford. 6-7 300 lb OT Jerry Tillery just received an offer for 2015, and we're already his favorite. He'll visit July 27.

I think we're mom's favorite, too.

A March 23 article in the Times-Picayune named Jerry Tillery the No. 3 prospect in Louisiana for 2015, noting that he "is a tenacious mauler on the field and has intellect off of it."

S&C will have to work with him.

Yes, and he seems like the type of person who would work hard to improve his strength and conditioning. His career aspirations include NFL and medicine. Looks like an excellent fit for Stanford.

In spite of his mother's apparent leaning towards The Farm, Jerry Tillery became Notre Dame's first commitment for 2015:

There is quite a long way to go before February 2015. Many things can change. Stanford, USC, and Notre Dame routinely get early commitments that don't end up sticking.Â
In Stanford's case, many guys say Stanford is their top choice at the moment (Peppers, now Tillery), and end up not only signing somewhere else, but soon after proclaiming Stanford #1 actually commit to other schools without ever visiting Stanford. This is really a bit strange.

I agree. Makes me wonder if they (other schools) think they need to really turn on the screws to try to force a kid to make a decision BEFORE they visit Stanford because they know how how powerful a Stanford visit is - that once a kid visits it is hard for them to resist.

It's easy to say you are considering Stanford before the application process. It also makes people think you are a good student and serious about academics.
