Note that 4 of the coaches ahead of Shaw in this ranking have won national championships.

Wow.  Just wow.

1.  Saban - Alabama
2.  Meyer - Ohio St
3.  Petersen - Boise St
4.  Stoops - Oklahoma
5.  Kelly - Notre Dame
6.  Spurrier - South Carolina
7.  Shaw - Stanford

That's some pretty exalted company.

Anybody who thinks Kelly is a better coach than Shaw has not seen the two men on their respective sidelines...or at a practise with dangerous weather conditions.

Re: Sporting News ranks Shaw #7 - fullmetal - 04-25-2013

Stoops hasn't won a BCS game in a while, and Oklahoma pulls in a lot of talent.  Petersen struggled with Boise St. last year, but the book's not finished on him.  Kelly?!  Wasn't he the first Kelly  offered the Eagles HC job?  He should have taken it if so, because I'm not sure the University of South Bend will have a similarly good season as this year without Eifert and Te'o.  Could be wrong...maybe next season they won't need luck to beat Pittsburgh.  And next season, Stanford's going to wreak vengeance.

Given the names ahead of Shaw, obviously character and integrity did not factor in this ranking - only winning on the field did.
