Great timing as well for recruiting. Stanford will be hosting several 2013 recruits this weekend. Might be some from the following class too.

Pure coincidence, surely. The coaches were undoubtedly pleasantly surprised by the scheduling.

Hmmm, recruiting aside, I would have thought the optimal timing for the Rose Bowl celebration would be during the Ca.l game. Actually, on second thought, that could go badly if Ca.l fans outnumber Stanford fans in the stands during the game...

The Rose Bowl celebration is being used as the incentive to attend the men's basketball game. The celebration isn't an add-on to an already popular game.

Assuming you're talking about the men's team, judging by what I saw on TV of the attendance at Haas last night [at least when I turned on the k.al-UW game in the second half], that doesn't look too likely [somewhat surprisingly...].
And there's NO chance the k.al women will outdraw us in Maples...

Yes, I was referring to the men's game. My understanding from lurking Ca.l fan boards is that they make a big show of descending on Palo Alto for the MBB game. If this were Monty's hay day on the farm, it would have been great to roll out the Rose Bowl trophy at the game to rub the Ca.l backers' noses in it. But I suspect that would have a similar result to rolling Tiger out at half time of the '09 Big Game.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the football will most likely be at the Stanford-Ca.l game to parade the Axe, so celebrating the RB would be over doing it.

From the shots I'm seeing of the stands duringthe game, doesn't look like the promotion was all that effective in drawing more fans to the game.

Dawkins is probably thinking: a) does Hamilton have eligibility and b) if so, can I use Hamilton in my innovative five-guard rotation? Because playing your best players and allowing them to get in a rhythm is for pikers.
