I don\'t see where you\'re getting the "sixth-best" fact--FWIW most recruiting services rank us in the teens for a recruiting class considered less-than-loaded.

I\'d be happy with a sixth or seventh place finish this year with the 2011-12 season being the one to make a good run.

It means we have a good ranking relative to other schools\' recruiting classes, but if you think about it relative to other schools\' recruiting classes in other years, then the benefit of having a relatively good recruiting class in a down year is significantly less.

For comparison\'s sake: the Class of 2006--with Lopez twins and Landry Fields, surely one of the greatest recruiting classes in Stanford\'s history--was ranked #11 by Scout in a loaded year.

One cannot make the assumption that the recruiting services are accurate either.  It is about filling needs and since we have needs everywhere, I guess it is a good class...2 more years of that and we may be back.  I am only willing to bet that we end the season ahead of Oregon (down to 8-9 scholarship players) but other than that, it will be hard to say.

From a talent standpoint, the program was set back to the time of Dr. Tom Davis on the day the Lopez twins declared for the NBA draft. Responsibility for that state of affairs falls on Trent Johnson, and to some extent, the admissions regime at the time.

I have confidence that Dawkins is turning the program around. In two seasons he\'s gotten more out of very weak talent than any of us expected. And he seems to have gotten recruiting on-track.  I would be thrilled if Stanford makes the NCAA tournament this year, and I won\'t be shocked if it happens, but I also don\'t think that\'s a fair standard to judge Dawkins by. By 2011-2012, we should absolutely be a tournament team.

I see this year as a rebuilding year, so I\'m not going to be upset if we finish 9th in the P10 yet again.  Between losing Landry to the NBA and the 2 or 3 year gap in recruiting around Johnson\'s departure and Dawkins\' arrival/the Olympics, we\'re essentially starting over.  This year\'s team has only one real senior (Dildy; I\'m not counting Josh Owens) and we\'ll probably be starting 2 or 3 freshman.  You can\'t expect 20 wins with that sort of lineup.  But I\'m looking forward to watching Green develop into a big-time scorer and seeing the freshman get a lot of playing time.

And I agree with 97fan--failure to make the Tourney in 2011-2012 would be disappointing.

Actually, Dildy is not returning, so there are no seniors on this team.
