AFCA All-American Team; 2 Stanford players -

First of the big All-American teams come out. Your All-Americans, as defined by the coaches: TE Zach Ertz and OL David Yankey.
No Stanford defenders. As if they needed any more motivation.

Interesting. 2 All-Americans from an average offense. 0 All-Americans from an elite defense.

I've been surprised by the love given to our offensive line, both in this team and the All Pac-12 team. It's not a bad line by any means, but Taylor's doing a ton of work in the running game. In the passing game--the team looked deceptively good in pass protection because Nunes had very good pocket feel and opponents didn't really bother blitzing much. Hogan's taken 7 sacks in 4 games -- a pace which would, if extended over the entirety of the season, put the team fourth in the Pac-12. Good, but not elite.

Might be a hangover from the DeCastro/Martin effect. But the line is young, and they'll get better.

I think you're exactly right on both counts. Still, it's not a what-we-think-you'll-do-in-the-future award.

Stepfan Taylor would be facing 12 or 13 men in the box.
And the Kulabafi would still score. ;D
