Khalil Wilkes & Zach Ertz share the Ronnie Harris award - pincemob - 11-17-2012
If Wilkes doesn't recover the fumble in OT, who knows. That momentum might have done us in. And if Ertz doesn't defend that pass on Hogan's errant throw on the winning drive, we lose.
This award is named after Ronnie Harris who broke up South Central Academy's 4th down play in the end zone to preserve a 14-7 deficit and was key to our victory over #2 South Central Academy. It is awarded to players who make plays which are overshadowed in the media coverage but are critical to victory. Â
Honorable mention (thanks for the ideas below!)
Devon Carrington for running down Mariota on that 79 yard run.Â
Zychlinski for an All-American day of punting
Opponent division:
Super Mariota for running OB for 2 yard loss on first play of OT, perhaps providing the yardage needed for their FG to go "Doink!"

I love it.

Can we give Mariota an honorable mention as well for taking a 2 yard loss by running out of bounds on the 1st play of overtime instead of throwing a pass away? Those 2 yards eventually loomed large in being the difference between Maldonado's field goal sneaking inside the uprights and instead becoming the most wonderful "boink" in my lifetime (well, I mean, aside from ... you know ... um, never mind)

Zychlinski deserves a ton of credit. He's had a propensity to gun the ball into the end zone, but he was basically perfect today.

Yes, Zychlinski picked the perfect day to have pretty much his best punting game ever.

That was a freakin good punting game. And opponents are no longer perfect on field goals against Stanford.Â
