Next Week is a great chance to switch QB's - Cardinal96 - 10-27-2012
We have an away game at Colorado. I am 16 years out of college and I think we could win that game if I lined up at QB. This would be a great chance to give a new guy (Nottingham, Hogan, who knows) a start.

I would be shocked if there was a change in starting QB, for whatever reason Shaw is committed to Nunes.
I would be surprised if we see Nottingham get any snaps the rest of the season.
I expect we'll some more of the "Hogan" package.

I agree with you but I hope to be proven wrong.

Agreed with this completely.
Shaw has always taken a measured approach with his coaching. Hogan has very slowly gotten more and more plays. As it's obvious our offense isn't working, we may see more of this already somewhat known quantity.
Nottingham will only play meaningful minutes if there is an injury. And in that scenario I do think he would become the starter, not Hogan. If anything though, the fact that our offense has been so consistently terrible this year means that the QB competition will be wide open in the offseason.

While I think we will beat Colorado, I'd be a little careful about assuming we could line up Gomer Pyle at QB and win the game.
Don't forget Colorado beat Wazzu.
(My prediction for Colorado- another butt-ugly game that we find a way to win, perhaps with another key stop by our defense in the fourth quarter.)

If that happened, we would have reached a new low. The WSU/Colorado game notwithstanding, Colorado is much worse than WSU (and was very lucky to come back and win that game). They are, by far, the least talented team in the Pac 12. An average Pac 12 squad should demolish them.
I may be criticized for being negative about a 6-2 season. There is nothing wrong with a 6-2 season and oddsmakers suggest that is where we should have ended up. However, it isn't about the record for me. It is a question of whether our team has played to our fullest potential and whether we see improvements week to week. In many ways, we regressed yesterday, particularly on offense. While Nunes threw no interceptions, there were several throws that could have been (and probably should have been) picked. We scored 17 points against one of the worst Pac 12 defenses. The pick six was from the defense. And it should be noted that in our two losses, we held Washington to net 10 points (backing out the pick six) and Notre Dame to net 6 points in regulation (backing out the strip sack fumble TD).

Maybe I've been a Stanford fan too long -

I've seen us play butt-ugly and lose so much that when we play that way and win, while I'm not overjoyed, I'm not upset either.
Anyway if we've got a couple of games left in us in which we are going to play to our full potential, I hope we save them for OSU and UCLA.
I'd be very happy with a 9-3 season, although I realize there still would be some complaints.

I heard more than one person at the game say that the Colorado game should be used to break in a new QB. Enough is enough. Nunes shows no improvement and gives absolutely no indication that we should expect any improvement.
