Another vote for Nunes - dabigv13 - 10-05-2012

...from AZ head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Quote:“From what I’ve seen, he’s been very impressive,” Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez said.

I guess he hasn't seen a whole lot then.

Also not really liking what I'm reading from our own players, in this case center Sam Schwartzstein-

Quote: “Josh is a poised QB that’s able to make the plays that he’s asked to,” Schwartzstein said. “Andrew was more stern, trying to make sure all details are correct. Josh is one of those guys that lets people do the right thing. Once people step out of line, he’ll get them back in line.”

Seems like each quarterback is a reflection of their head coach.

One thing head coaches are known for is never viewing tape of their opponents.

It's possible--probable, even--that Rich Rod's bsing to avoid becoming a story. But I do wish some of the more hysterical posters on the board would, ah, reassess their own views for nuance.

Re: Another vote for Nunes - Ratmandoo - 10-05-2012

Quote:“Whatever response people have [to the Washington game], I could care less. Josh has done a good job up to this point; he took a step backwards in that game. He did some really good things, but I expect him to bounce back and play better this week.”

What do people think about this quote from Shaw. Is this him being as realistic as he possibly can be to the media? He acknowledges that Nunes took a step back last week. Or is this just another quote that proves Shaw just doesn't get it? We've picked apart everything else Shaw has said.

What does this even mean?  Andrew made sure he caught other players' mistakes before they actually happened, while Nunes makes the corrections after the mistakes happen?

Re: Another vote for Nunes - fullmetal - 10-05-2012

Rich Rod might be guessing that his best chance of beating Stanford lies with JN at the reins.  David Shaw has to make sure JN plays mistake-free football...that includes no grounding the ball in front of your receivers.  And let's hope Ty Montgomery is keeping his gloves dry.

Re: Another vote for Nunes - fullmetal - 10-06-2012

If I were feeling particularly nasty as an opposing head coach, I'd say something about duplicating what UW did and getting him to repeat his performance from last week.  Or something.  If.

The most important game is the next one you have to play.  Let's go Stanford!
