Anyone go to the fan open house? -

It was at the stadium, 1PM Pacific time. Â I only know about it because I still see an ad for it on GoStanford.com.

Sure,
The crowd tally was closing in on 1,000 when I left. Â The players seemed to be around between 1PM and 2:30PM. Â We left around 2:15, so it is possible, though unlikely, that other events happened later.
This is how it worked. Â Almost all of the players were there to sign posters, shirts, etc. Â The players 1-30 were sitting on the East Concourse. so Luck, Sherman and those types were generally out of the heat. Â 31-60 were on one side of the field under those big umbrellas, and 61-99 were on the other side of the field.
Almost every fan grabbed a poster or two and had the players sign the posters. Â Every player had about the same amount of space at a long string of tables, and it had a very assembly line feel to the process. Â Though that also insured some level of player equality, which was probably helpful.
The players then would thank people for coming out, and ask them to check out a game or two. Â Which I thought was odd because I just can\'t imagine that non-Stanford ticket holders would have even known about the event.
Luck was up off the field, so generally the players signing on the field had to answer the big, and likely annoying, question. Â "Where is Luck?"
However, Luck was really just one of the guys and there was no real opportunity to crowd around him or anything like that.
The field was filled with little kids running around kicking balls and running through drills. Â It was a good nice day, but no player participation to note.
For those that care, the team looked remarkably healthy. Â There were few cuts, bruises, splints or casts. Â Or perhaps the players with real hand and arm injuries were allowed to skip the event??

A few with casts? Â Who? Â Thanks for the great report, how about the murals in the tunnels?

There were few, as in almost none. Â Only one player had a splint on a finger. Â The rest of the guys were splint-free. Â A few players had typical football bruises, but honestly if you told me that today was the first day of camp I would have believed it.
Almost every player that came to the event walked in on their own, so perhaps those with meaningful injuries were allowed to skip the event.
With close to 100 players I can\'t say I was inspecting the players like scouts at a combine, but I did walk away thinking that the players almost looked too healthy.
Murals in the tunnels...
Ah yes, a nice touch. Â There are action shots from each of Stanford\'s bowl games on the right side as one is walking into the stadium. Â The 2009 Sun Bowl photo is in that mix now, I think.
The left side features All-Americans from Stanford.
There are two other collections, but I don\'t recall their themes. Â I doubt your average SC or UW player will care, but it probably will be nice for recruits to imagine themselves on those walls. Â

and any number of young, stupid fans of any particular allegiance. Â

One would hope they would use their "creativity" to paint Memorial Stadium and/or all of the temporary construction fences that we KNOW will be there well past the current August 2012 timeline.
