Working through some things - Redrum - 08-24-2010

That\'s the new buzz phrase from Harbaugh: "Working through some things."   Means the player is injured.

-- Surprise starter at tight end: RS freshman Levine Toilolo.  Better than vet  Fleener?  Better than Ertz?   Better than Reuland?  Hard to know about better than Reuland...he\'s working through some things.

-- Also working through things:  Chris Owusu, Tyler Gaffney, Richard Sherman

--But while Sherman is working through things, true freshman Barry Browning is a starter at corner.

-- Starters at safety: Delano Howell and Michael Thomas.  Second string= Yancy and Skaufel (who has spent the last two years working through some things.)

-- Third walk-on, safety Myles Muagututia, has won a scholarship.  A redshirt freshman, this guy hasn\'t played but must be putting together some hellacious practices and scrimmages.

JH did make the comment that there were fewer players "working through some things" this year than there had been in the past.

Good sign.

Muagututia\'s  scholarship - Redrum - 08-25-2010

One of the Bootleg mavens noted that Muagututia is also a very talented volleyball player but two- sport  scholarship players are required by the NCAA to have their scholarship count against the FB total if  one of the two sports played is football.  A  sensible rule to keep schools from stockpiling FB players in other sports to skirt scholarship limits.

Also no word if the scholarship is a four-year ride or just a year or two.  Those have been awarded in the past,  but usually to upperclassmen.

Regarding Toilolo--if you went to the spring game your eyes were drawn to him--he dwarfed every other player on the field.  His hands were a little iffy that day, but if he can hold the ball he will be Luck\'s best friend.
