Odd, but I suspect that Kiffin was not the best coach that USC could have found, so I almost want him to stay and struggle to squeeze out of those Vols challenges.

Hard to see how Kiffin is a recruiting positive for USC at this point.  And even harder to see how Kiffin helps USC demonstrate a renewed commitment to institutional control.

So anyone else see a rocky path ahead for the two-headed Haden/Kiffin monster?

Rocky path?

I see what you did there!

Re: Lane Kiffin. Again. - Leftcoast - 08-06-2010

Hmmhhh, I think I see where you\'re going - Perhaps a "Rocky Top" path, too!   Making the comment a serendipitous reference to Kiffin\'s problems at Tennessee.

Is it not possible that Kiffin was hired because he would be easy to dismiss after the days in the wilderness for USC are over?  The program then would be cleaner and ready for a fresh start under a more proven coach who will reconstruct the program.

Seems a brobdingnagian stretch. Why pay such big money to hire him away from Tennessee? Expendable coaches come cheap. Don\'t assume some grand scheme hatched by the genius dark lords of Troy, instead use Occam\'s Razor: Mike Garrett is an idiot and overpaid to hire an idiot. Should be fun to watch them implode over the next few years (one reason we must make sure Cal and Stanford get to play them every year--we don\'t want to miss out on all the fun).

Occam is dead and was a lousy monk anyway.

Machiavelli lives in the dark hearts of many and was a good Prince.
