Cheering for RichRod to keep his job may prove too difficult.  

Since the start at Michigan he has struggled to keep the Ann Arbor community happy even while he was bending the rules on practice time.

Now it seems that the NCAA has new ammo that may force an end to his Michigan coaching job even if the team is successful on the field.  Believe it or not, he may have done similar types of cheating while at WVU.

Ugh, makes me wonder if this guy has the ability to win if he is forced to follow the rules.

Wonder if he wishes he could just relax and watch his son play football.  Or, maybe start building the Jim Harbaugh Hiring Fund.

Argh.  I\'m sure that everyone will explain to me that I\'m foolish for wishing Jim Harbaugh would stay at Stanford for ever.  But it\'s going to really hurt if he leaves for Michigan at the end of the year.  I haven\'t even come close to getting over the wounds of the BT/WH regimes.

I guess I\'m just keeping my hope-filled blinders on, but I don\'t think Harbaugh is leaving at the end of this year.  If we have a great year, I hope that one of our wealthy alums will step up and try to keep him.  

Regardless, I am officially refusing to speculate on or worry about whether Harbaugh is leaving.  I\'m going to watch Stanford football and hope for a winning trip to the Rose Bowl.  The pain won\'t be any less if we\'ve called the shot in advance.  So from me, the sound you\'ll hear in terms of Harbaugh\'s future is "Naaaanaaaaanaaaaaa, I can\'t hear you."  Go Stanford!

We certainly don\'t need to recount what I consider to be the obvious flaws in the "JH is gone to Michigan (or the NFL)..." theories, but at the risk of sounding like naive homer, I\'m hoping that we Board-posters (of all people) can at least quick it with such defeatist, inferiority-complex-laden drivel and enjoy him while we\'ve got him (for the next 25 years!).

It\'s one thing when the morons who write for the Bay Area newspapers try to pass off such speculation as insight or analysis, but let\'s not stoop to their level.  If nothing else, it undermines the great work that JH has done on the recruiting and fan base re-building fronts.  Please tell me that we can refocus this energy on finding ways to fill our wonderful new stadium and make sure that Jim comes to think of Stanford as a home he could not possible leave!

If we have a recruit that is willing to believe thecardboard.org, ESPN, or the SJMN over JH himself than JH\'s credibility is at an all time low.

I have to believe most recruits and their parents ask this question anyway, so there is no reason to worry about the chatter on a board.  And I want to believe that most recruits will not select Stanford just because of JH or his staff.  If history is any guide, those that verbal to Stanford rarely switch away during coaching changes.

I would suspect that JH\'s public answers about staying focused on winning here and now at Stanford are true.  They just happen to also be the best way to move up the coaching ladder too.  And make no mistake Michigan or the NFL are meaningful career advancements, for a coach.

JH is in the coaching profession.  He will leave for something else at some point.  I sure hope he gets hired away because that should mean Stanford Football has had a great run.

For JH to remain the coach at Stanford for a decade he might need to pull a "Ted.f.ord".  Win consistently but without ever beating the conference\'s best or getting to the Rose Bowl.

And then after a decade JH might realize that, like Ted.f.ord, he is stuck in a slowly sinking program.  Ugh, no thanks!
