A line so wonderful, it inspires so many jokes: Joe Ayoob breaks paper airplane throwing distance record.

Okay, I know we're supposed to be mocking him and all, but HOLY COW THAT AIRPLANE FLIGHT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! Truly the stuff that every elementary school kid dreams of. Seriously, the plane hits a perfect trajectory on the way up, sails into a perfect downslope (here's where ordinary paper airplanes would drop straight down into the ground), and then it catches a slight updraft and then sails its final 30 feet in an almost perfect horizontal line that ends just before it hit the wall (which would have been disappointing cuz everybody would have been wondering how much further it could have gotten).
That was an amazing flight.
oh yeah, and screw cal.
actually, come to think of it, if cal QB's want paper airplane records while stanford QB's play in BCS bowls, i'm fine with that.

If the director or a star of a pretty bad new motion picture dares to attend a preview, and is boorish enough to loiter at the private screening room's exit, the standard response is: "You must be very proud."

I know we all like to bash Tedford but no wonder he hasn't produced a big-time QB recently... he's having to start with teaching these kids how to fly kites and paper airplanes and such (and he is clearly doing a superb job at that).
Sounds to me like Cal needs to up the entrance requirements for its football players.

But I have a soft spot in my heart for Joe Ayoob. Most Kal football players deserve whatever knocks life deals out. But Kal fans just went OFF on him, mainly for not being Aaron Rodgers. He wasn't a great QB. Hell, not even a good QB except for occasional stretches, but the way the kal fans savaged him they didn't deserve a QB that good....er, bad. Whatever. They didn't deserve even Ayoob. They deserved more Tom Holmoe.

Bummer... I apparently didn't catch this thread fast enough.Â
I tried to view the linked site last night and, again, this morning, and both times got a message that the site has been suspended because it exceeded the permissibile bandwidth. Such is the power of the CARDboard, I guess. Is this the first time the Board has apparently brought down another site?Â
Or, I suppose, it might just be that there are a whole lot more Joe Ayoob fans out there than we thought...
Next site for CB to bring down is YT. -

Just so we're clear, Ayoob only threw the airplane. It's not like he designed it.

Man, I was actually impressed before I read your post that he didn't design the plane, FarmBoy. This is also verified by the comments under Lurck42's link.

Lurck42 -- Thanks for the alternate address.Â
I'm with GoodGrief -- that was one impressive flight!Â
It apparently happened at McLellan AFB, which has me worried. I know there have been defense spending cutbacks, but are we really moving to paper airplanes now...? ???

Yep.Â
Folks wanting more info about the glider may watch an ESPN produced / YT video spotlighted in yesterday's CCtimes:

Bay Area News Group

Joe Ayoob, the former C.a.l quarterback from Marin County, set the world record on Sunday for the longest paper airplane throw when he launched a glider 226 feet, 10 inches in a Sacramento airplane hangar.
It was an exhilarating experience for Ayoob and the man who folded the paper airplane, John Collins, a Marin City resident who has published two books on the subject.
