Decommits from bears. At least, that's one our friends at CGB are wringing their hands about today. Apparently it's on twitter and he'll choose schools next Wed.

Wow. This is what happens when a big part of one school's sports identity is having a rival that you can kick around, and suddenly that rival is kicking your A**. Petty, childish, immature...as though the entire sports world of Stanford revolves around them

He's probably headed our way. For an entertaining conspiracy theory, read 9thCircuitBear's post here.

This is not new. We used to have a visitor here who believed we downsizEd the stadium with the sole intent of having fewer Kal fans at Big Game.

So ... we strive to "make School near Oakland football unstable/dysfunctional and to keep its fans miserable/divided"
I think this guy is confusing nature with nurture.

This kind of thinking is clearly reflective of the author's personal values. He/she envisions his "enemy" acting this way, because it's how he/she acts already. It's definitely reflective of how so much of their identity is built on being not-Stanford.

They should put that post in the dictionary next to the definition of "delusional."

Man, all this time I thought going to back-to-back BCS bowls and watching some of the best players in college football were for my own entertainment and enjoyment. Turns out I was just trolling the 59ers all the while!
(EDIT: also enjoyable is the insistence that they've upgraded at DL and WR coaching. This seems less than certain, to put it charitably.)

Quote:While their sports program as a whole strives for success, their football program has always, does, and will always strive for only one thing: to make School near Oakland football unstable/dysfunctional and to keep its fans miserable/divided. When the school I wish I had attended saw the opportunity to take one of our players away, they dropped everything, couldn't care less how horrible it would make their program appear from a PR standpoint, and kicked Jontrey [Tillman] in the gutter. That's how they roll . . . and that's how they've always rolled, and that's how they willl continue to roll. 50 yrs of "bad luck" does not happen by accident.
And they have a whole bunch more potential commits on the table still: mongoloids, really. This is all in response to the rumors they heard about us possibly having such a great year -- they did it in response, to frustrate us and belittle our accomplishment. Now this is going to be overboard.

Wow. California fans and the pole smoker admins that run CGB and BI are delusional. The only one responsible for California's failures is California. They are their own worst enemy. There is a thread on the Hoffpauir de-commit on BT that talks about how piss poor the alumni relations and post graduate giving and networking are at the school. The school is sinking in prestige and because it has no culture of having solid alumni relations, when budget cuts are happening, they have nowhere to turn.
The place needs totally new leadership, but the culture of mediocrity and political correctness is probably too strong to even allow it to happen. It's really depressing to see the flagship university of the biggest state in the country descending into mediocrity as it has.

"They're either at your feet...or at your throat"
Which is a perfect description of how Cyber59ers are treating Hoffpauir. In the last few weeks they were almost licking his feet. I've read the adoration for a guy who would display a script C/al towel at an all-star game and labled his twitter address "c.algang". They talked about how Hoffpauir brought an infectious mentality to the defense that would galvanize a whole team and raise their play. One guy even wrote about how much fun it would be to see Hoffpauir slap Stanford silly with his intensity tackling.  Now they're at his throat. He's nothing to them. They've got better options. Hoffpauir will regret it. He as never
worthy of being a C/al guy anyway.
It seems highly likely Hoff (See? We even got his
nickname to decommit) will end up at Stanford. But just in case he's waffling, I hope he reads what his former worshippers are saying about him. That should seal the deal.
