Other games week of Oct 24 -
BostonCard - 10-24-2026
Upset watch: UCF is tied with BYU 24 all late in the fourth quarter and has the ball in BYU territory.
BC
Cincinanati upset #8 Texas Tech 37-24 with former Stanford running back going for 173 yards on 16 carries and a TD.
Otherwise, most games went as expected; Indiana was taken to OT by Michigan, but won 13-6. Georgia Tech was leading BC at halftime, but it has been all Eagles since then, and they are up 49-27 late in the fourth. Miami beat Pittsburgh handily. SMU had its way with Cal in the second half.
BC
Unbelievable.... on fourth and goal from the one, with 1:42 left, UCF goes for it and BYU holds them.
BC
UCF gets the ball back, looks like they fumble the ball, but it is overturned as an incomplete pass (plus there is a 15 yard penalty) that takes it into field goal range. Scott Frost's UCF has a chance to win it with a 45 yard field goal if my math is right.
BC
And the kick is blocked.

The game is in overtime, and it is just awful football. Penalties, mistakes, dumb plays, bad reffing.
BC
Down goes BYU as Bachmeyer's pass on fourth down falls incomplete.

Toejams losing to Wisconsin in the 4th quarter, 7-17. Schadenfreude!
UCLA beat Michigan State, 28-10, now 7-0.
SMU beats Kal, 59-20.

Yeah, USC about to go down to Wisconsin; 24-7 in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter. It's not quite the same now that they are in the Big Ten, but it never gets old to watch them lose.
Texas and Ole Miss tied at 24 in the fourth quarter.

By the way, the officiating in the BYU/ UCF was absolutely brutal.
The roughing the kicker penalty against BYU in the second OT that gave UCF a fresh set of downs was weak sauce (UCF would then go on to score a TD); the player that ostensibly roughed the kicker was blocked into him.
But it wasn't just BYU that got screwed. On the final play of regulation, UCF's field goal was blocked. The kicker picked up the football, and his helmet was literally yanked off by the BYU player. A flag was thrown but was inexplicably picked up; instead of another kick from 15 yards closer, there was a mandatory 10 second rundown for the helmet coming off that led to the end of regulation.

In the last play of regulation in the BYU-UCF game, the refs got it wrong. There should not have been a 10-second runoff.
Scott Frost, shame on you for not throwing a fit. Watching as a fan without great knowledge of the rulebook, it just didn't make sense that a runoff would be required when the clock is stopped (because, as explained during the broadcast, the clock stops after a legal kick, blocked or not).
