Let's keep the streak going!

I think we're going to do pretty well. NC State will be starting the game at 10:30 p.m. body clock time, and finish it well past midnight, body-clock time. Stanford wins a close one, 27-24 and evens the record at 4-4.

The Elon shower didn’t white wash off the stink of Wake and ND for me. Hoping I’m wrong and we take them down, and I’ll be there to see it.

This will be a good calibration game for us. What the season suggests so far:
We are not competitive against top 10 teams, at home or away
We are not competitive against quality teams 3 time zones away
We are competitive and can win at home against struggling Power 4 or mediocre FBS teams, especially if they are a few time zones away
We can be dominant against FCS teams
This game will go a long way in determining whether we're at the very bottom of the Power 4 or if we're just bottom 3rd.
Odds suggest that it's the former, but really hope we can recalibrate up after Friday.
I would think Tavita and Co. are looking at this game as a major opportunity to prove there's forward progress. I suspect NC State is in a similar boat, and I'm guessing they will look at it the same way.

Sure we have a shot. At home.
This will come down to our Defense.
And without key LB Matt Rose (did he enter portal?)
Nicholson is out also, which really hurts against their active passing attack (75% of the time).
1) Stats say this is a D.Warren vs CJ Bailey shootout... and each to 6 or 7 wideouts
Bailey QB rating = 145, Warren is at 127
[But we faced #3 NDAM, and they didn't]
Neither team brings a stout run game.
2) But, NCST just beat LOUV) , a quality win we clearly lack.
3) They only lost to WAKE 38-14.
WAKE shutdown their rush game to 15 yards.
Where do we excel at anything over them?
Maybe a rush game with big OT Nick Prongos back?
That could help, but ESPN says 75% likely for the Pack.
I don't buy the 10:30pm body clock stuff for 20-year old college athletes. Yes, flight time, travel can be.
It affects Boomer age fans surely...

From NC State's side:
Quote:Running back Duke Scott, who missed the Wolfpack's game against Wake Forest due to injury, is not listed on the updated depth chart. The backups to Davion Gause are listed as Darius Johnson and Deandre Desinor, with players like Jonathan Paylor, Dylan McCoy and Noah Moss -- who have also received snaps this season -- not listed.
While starting guard Yousef Mugharbil is another major loss for the Wolfpack, it did get some positive news with wideout Jojo Trader now listed as a starter after missing last week's game. Defensively, Tristan Teasdell is listed as an "OR" with King Mack at safety after he missed the Wake Forest game, too.
Somehow, Rico Jackson will be starting at left guard and right tackle while Spike Sowells -- who is already confirmed out for the season -- will be the third string at center. And somehow, Elijah Satchell, who currently leads NC State with three sacks on the season, is still not listed on the depth chart. So we'll see how accurate it truly is on Friday night.

From that article:
"RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State heads back out on the road on Friday evening against Stanford,
with an opportunity to earn its first road win and get back on track in ACC play.
Days before kickoff, the Wolfpack revealed a tweaked depth chart for the matchup in Berkeley --
the first updated depth chart since Week 3 released to the public."
So if they show up in Berkeley and are sitting on their butts waiting for us there at game time, does that mean they forfeit the game?

Both teams are calling this a must win. Hoping for a competitive game with two teams playing hard and ending with a Stanford win.

NC State is favored by 7.5, but has lost three of four against the spread in their last four games. They had last weekend off, but have to kick off at 10:30 p.m. body clock time.
I think Stanford hangs on for the win.

Welcome to the Cardboard NowBoy. One of the traditions here is to poke fun at posts with misspellings. It's therefore unfortunate that you get flagged in your first post. Don't take it personally. I can't spell for shyte.

I like this way of thinking of this game and this season to date.
Also while of course I want a win tonight, at a more basic level, looking to see us play good football.
How about for a whole game?
We played good football during parts, but not all, of our win games.
A quarter+ of Hawaii game was not really good.
First half of Elon was debatable whether good or not, D pretty good, the O not quite so much.
And I would say we even played a piece of good football for part of Miami blowout, in that our passing game (minus some drops) was otherwise pretty good.
As with GaTech and Hawaii games, gonna take playing good football for most of this game tonight to gain a win I think.

Agree with all the above. Although I think it is exceedingly rare for a team to play an entire gamenofngood football unless you l they are playing an overmatched opponent. Some of it is about weathering the storm and not making a bad quarter really bad.

Hoping for an ACC After Dark special with no further injuries between the two teams. Go Stanford!

For the record, all our losses are to Ranked Teams -- anyone else play this schedule this year? Maybe OHST? GEOG? TEX?
#1 MIAM, blowout
#4 NDAM, blowout
#17 WAKE (now going into week 7 at 6-1)
#21 DUKE (after Week 4; they started 4-0)
-- they just bagged UVA in Charlottesville 19-16 on double pass trickeration for the win. Sad for Wahoos.
OK, we handled HAWI, and GTEC.
Still have LOUV, SMU (ranked at some point)
