FB -- Other Games Week 7 - martyup - 10-17-2026

OMG, Auburn just beat #1 Georgia.

[Image: ?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia1.tenor.com%2Fm%2F...ipo=images]

And . . . Texas goes down to Florida.  Looks like the teams that beat us will be #1 and #2, pending the results of their games later.

Crazy day of college football.  Alabama is about to lose to Tennessee.  Duke is on the verge of losing to North Carolina.  Indiana's winning streak is broken by tOSU.

Miami-FSU game in overtime.

RE: FB -- Other Games Week 7 - Nobadeer - 10-17-2026

Ashton Daniels never passed like this at LSJU. FSU lost in double OT but Daniels played great. 298 yds and 4 TD passes, plus a rushing TD.

RE: FB -- Other Games Week 7 - thunder_chik - 10-17-2026

BYU pulls off the upset, 28-24 over ND

RE: FB -- Other Games Week 7 - martyup - 10-17-2026

Miami will be the new #1.  How far up will BYU rise?  I'd say they should be #2.

cal down 27-0 to Wake after barely more than a quarter

Brutal no PI call against BYU on the last play of the game

Gawd, no JTS and Cal is down 34-0 end of first half. Cal's defense looks familiar...see the Card vs WF. Cal fans booing team off the field as they try to figure things out.

We were "only" down 29-0 at halftime, LOL.

Yes, LOL. And, WOW UCLA is without their somewhat touted QB and beats 5-1 Wiscy to remain undefeated at 6-0. Their new coach must be a genius.

RE: FB -- Other Games Week 7 - martyup - 10-17-2026

Utah is trying to Coug it. But they survive 27-24. Now 6-0 and they have the longest active win steak in the FBS.

Also, we now apparently know where the extra second from the Western Michigan/Michigan game came from: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/50208529/big-12-admits-error-says-notre-dame-had-one-more-play

Bear Bachmeier noted that Notre Dame disrespected him and his family "pretty badly" during his high school recruiting process and he "wasn't going to lose to those guys."  He did not specify what happened.

It was an entertaining Saturday full of upsets, close games and exciting finishes. But in the big picture, not really very consequential. I don't think anything changes for the top teams that lost (Indiana, Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama). They will almost certainly still make the playoffs. Texas is now at risk, especially given their remaining schedule. In a 24 team playoff, they would certainly still be in the hunt even with 3 or 4 losses.

Good thing he came up big on defense on that last play to make sure it didn't happen...

Do you think a two-loss ND team makes the playoffs? They have to play Miami, and I believe Miami would be favored if the game were this Saturday.

I think (hope?) ND misses out with a second loss, which isn't guaranteed but seems (to me) likely. Their weak schedule is a real issue.

Indiana and Georgia definitely remain in good shape. Alabama essentially non-competitive last Saturday could be an issue, when you look at the remaining schedule for Kentucky(!): Vandy, Tennessee, Florida, Missouri and Louisville. Maybe Kentucky is fool's gold, but I think the result of Kentucky v Tennessee could potentially get a lot of attention if the choice is between Kentucky and Alabama.

I think it will depend on how they lose to Miami. The committee would give ND credit for playing in Provo (losing on the road not as bad). And they lost to the team that is currently ranked #2 whom they took to the very last play. But ND plays Miami in South Bend. If ND loses at home and it's not that close, then it will be harder for the committee to give ND the benefit of the doubt.

It will also depend on the resumes of the other 2 and 3 loss teams with whom ND might be competing for a spot. Last year the committee chose a 3 loss Alabama over a 2 loss Notre Dame.

I would be very happy for ND to be on the outside at the end of the season because of their weak schedule. Let the evidence continue to mount that they are losing out because of their status as an independent.
