2026 Stanford at Notre Dame Predictions Thread -

Do we have a chance to have an even more ridiculous spread than that glorious 2007 USC game?

Looked at the 2019 game, where my kitten got me through that debacle. Figure we're half as good, they're 10 points better. 55-12, bad guys.

I predict the final score will be whatever Notre Dame wants it to be.

Who knew that I'd be on the rosy side of the predictions. Even KartyFan, with his cardinal colored glasses and B+ grades on the offense and the record, has us getting beat worse. . . .

Interestingly enough, those were my thoughts about the 2007 U$C game.

I expect that once ND up by say 30+ points they start putting in 2nd and 3rd stringers.
Which still beat us, but not as at such a fast pace.
And that we stumble into a field goal (maybe two) by getting deep enough into their territory, through some lucky couple / few offense plays,
or maybe pick them off or they fumble.
But otherwise, is like Scary Movie I (Miami), Scary Movie II (Duke), and Scary Movie III (Wake) did so well at the box office, why stop the series there?

Notes: Miami is elite, as is Notre Dame. Duke has a great defense, average offense. Wake Forest has an elite offense and an above average defense. NC State has a good offense and below average (better than Stanford's) defense. Virginia Tech is in that right upper quadrant (above average in both). Cal has a better defense and a worse offense than Georgia Tech.

We (#108) are roughly in same bracket as Rice (#117)...
NDAM slammed Rice 52-zip in South Bend.
UNC played them tough in Chapel Hill last week... but they have a Coach.
So, NDAM favored by 5TDs+
How about we get a FG on a recovered fumble, and they book 8 TDs.
Back in 2009, we had Stud Gerhart

I can't take the WF game defensive effort into account given how injured Stanford was. If those guys are back to play out the end of the season, it's a completely different squad.

We may lose 55-10 but I'm still giving us a B+! (jk)

I see a more competitive game here. This team has life. Davis Warren plays better, a slight run game.
ND 48
Stan 20

This is the most dedicated (and insightful) group of Stanford followers I know...
Has ANYBODY picked Stanford to beat NDAM ?
Anyone? The average for this group is
NDAM 45, STAN 12

Looks like getting beat only 38-20 is the most optimistic prediction so far.
Yeah a pretty bad situation when your own fan base throws you under the bus out of dire pessimism.
They say in sports you should focus on the upcoming game only, never look ahead.
That's why I'm now looking ahead.
After being pummeled by ND, hopefully with no injuries, I'm hoping Coach TP and Co. can get the team to let it go.
Don't lose all hope and confidence.
Refocus.
If can do that we should win vs Elon because we are (or should be) a better team and because it's at home.
Then if win that and look good doing so, a confidence build for the next game, NCST at home.
We have not shown to be a better team than them.
But similar to our win vs GT, when at home where we tend to play better, we can maybe beat a "better" team.
One can hope....

Hell, I've picked Stanford to win every game so far. Why stop now. The good guys 28, the papal usurpers 27.
I survived 20 straight losses at TCU as well as 3 consecutive shutouts and a monumental 82 to 16 blasting by Texas. So, NDAMN, do your worst.

Well -- there is always 1990 at South Bend.
Tommy Vardell bangs in for 4 TDs.
... An O-Line, run game. And 3 fumbled punts by NDAM
#1 NDAM felled by unranked Stanford

we did win as recently as 2022 in South Bend, 16-14, the last three games we've lost 56-23, 49-7, 49-20

Right. Significance of 1990 was #1 ranked and undefeated NDAM, similar to now

of course our 1990 team was better than our 2026 team is this year....
I was there 1990, we did not start well......
I've been to South Bend for three games, 1988, 1990, and 1992.
First time we spent two nights in South Bend, second time one night in some dumpy hotel that was the closest we could find to South Bend that did not have a two minimum, third time we stayed in Chicago....
some ND humor as told to me by an ND alum who has season thix with us
Q: what's the best view of the Golden Dome
A: in your rearview mirror as you are leaving
Q: Why is Notre Dame in South Bend
A: The priests stopped and were waiting to leave until the weather got better

Love the clips, recollections, memories.... Touchdown Tommy! awesome memory
I do believe both Ford and Irvin have big RB talent as did Tommy.
But if you can't get any kind of OLine surge on a run play, all gaps are filled, RB hit at the line or even in backfield, well, then not much Touchdown Tommy II gonna happen.
Hoping for what we saw in Hawaii game. Fearing what we saw in last game.
