Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

Let's &*% Go!!

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

Streaming live on the CW.
STOP ONE GUY:  Nate Sheppard.
They will play ball control keep away, so we need to stop their RunFirst mode, and force INTs.
Davis Warren should be able to throw on Duke, and it looks like some of our WRs are back from injury.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

i was not expecting that.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

OUTSMARTED ON FIRST PLAY:  ONSIDE KICK.  CANDY!
Jesus...

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

INTERCEPTED!!

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - JJJ - 09-19-2026

DEFENSE HOLDS!!!

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

Sheppard can move the ball.
But, inside the Red Zone, the Cardinal Phalanx STIFFENS for the snuff!  Bravo, Matt Rose.
4th and Goal -- INT in the End Zone!   WOW!   Duke Sucks.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - Sam Leopold - 09-19-2026

Duke ambushes us from multiple directions out of the gate but we give up nothing.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

Benji's back!

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

Good opening, but we fizzle at midfield after testing our unimaginative run game that is stuffed.  Punt, after a sack.
Open it up and let Warren throw the ball to six different guys.  Come back to the draw and short outs.
The O-Line cannot drive Duke (or anyone else) off the line.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

and our defense holds again.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

Cardinal Defense playing well.  We watched the tape from ILLI last week.
We are stacking the box against the run, and curbing the flare passes also.  Punt.

Duke was favored by 10, and O/U was 50.   This looks like bet the under.

Uneventful first half, net -- because Duke threw an INT from the 3 yard line -- when they had Nate Sheppard at RB. Dumb.
Neither team is converting on third down. Both 0 for 3. Duke 95 yards; STAN 84 yards.
We can pressure Eget; that works. And, they are blitzing Warren on every third and long.
We can get to midfield and then fizzle. The only runs working are quick hitters. Get to the secondary quickly.
I say #MoreCowbell. Throw to the TightEnds more. Open it up.

Nil-nil after Q1.

Stanford is really missing Galvan. Duke knows it can run at Mattingly's side. It's a building block while Stanford's offense has yet to get much of any rhythm going.

These teams feel about even but the best player on the field is Duke's RB Sheppard. I'm not optimistic, but one way Stanford wins is to force Eget into some bad mistakes (possible). But if Duke can hand off 40 times, Eget becomes irrelevant.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

BAHHHH.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - JJJ - 09-19-2026

Dang, that dude is quick. (Sheppard, that is.)

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

Like I said... STOP ONE GUY:  Sheppard.   DUKE 7, STAN 0 with 10m to go in Q2

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - newguy - 09-19-2026

Looks like Andrew's beard is back.

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2026

If the O-Line cannot protect Warren -- this is going to be a long season.
Blitzes that trigger QB fumbles are fatal.

lex24 - lex24 - 09-19-2026

Worst offensive line Ive seen. Tackles whiff more than Ron Herbel

RE: Stanford Duke Game Thread - Spiny_Norman - 09-19-2026

Sigh, House gets beat (again) and his man knocks the ball loose from Warren for a turnover. Stanford has not been able to give Warren much time to throw.
