She still has a good 3-4 years left in her.
It's a shame. She's our only current WNBA recognized star. Others have had good years, but not the consistency of NO for more than a decade.
I thought Brink would be there but she hasn't reached her full potential yet. Smith and Hull have been good but not at high-level stars. Iriafen is doing very well, but it appears that we're sharing her with the Condoms. Carrington is tough, but getting a bad rap as of late.
Who can we point to next year as our best WNBA rep?

It is a travesty that she has never been selected for the U.S. Olympic team. Conspiracy? Not being selected selected for the World Cup and no path to the upcoming Olympics in LA may have dealt the final blow to her returning to LA and continuing to play.

That was Geno being Geno. And when that happened, she wanted to play for Nigeria but FIBA denied it because she'd previously played for USA.
Tragic, that.
At least she'll be a unanimous pick for the HOF.

Another reason to place Geno on your personal "key his car" list if you were ever on the fence over that decision. Imagine being the league MVP and not making the Olympic team, at a position of need, with the character, leadership, and intangibles of Nneka. It probably won't surprise you that five UConn players made both the 2016 and 2020 team.
To be fair, those two teams easily won gold and Geno wasn't the coach in 2020. However, the 2016 snub was egregious-Nneka was the WNBA MVP, led the LA Sparks to the WNBA championship, and set scoring and rebounding records in one of her best years. (She also had led the previous USA junior teams which fed players to the Olympic team, usually leading in scoring playing alongside all those UConn future Olympian peers).
Ok, I've never, ever, keyed someone's car but I would make a one-time exception when Geno parks his car near mine.

My better half reminded me that Candace Parker, easily a top-3 WNBA player in 2016, was also dumped from that Olympic team (though she did play for USA in 08 & 12).

Makes me believe that despite all the glory bestowed upon Geno he is really a vengeful small man. If you don’t play for him he wields power to hurt you. Have never liked him.
