Did you hear the one about the 17 year old Stanford freshman who was such a freak that he won the Olympic decathlon twice (as a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old) and finished first in five of the ten events? And was 11-0 in career decathlons?

And famously barely knew the rules having only learned about the decathlon several months before the Olympic trials from his high school coach.

M almost fouled out at shot-put in his first Olympics due to leaving through the front of the ring, a restriction he didn’t know existed.
