2026 Stanford Football predictions - Papa John - 07-29-2026

With ACC media days behind us, here's your chance to prognosticate re: Stanford's football fortunes this fall. This poll is for the regular season only!

Stanford hasn't had a "full" winning season since 2018. The only worse stretch was 2002-2008, although there were plenty of reasons for optimism in Jim Harbaugh's first two seasons (2007-2008). Is this the year that Stanford climbs back to respectability?

My guess is it is somewhere around 4-6. I chose 5.
Tough schedule though. So I would have to say I'm being optimistic.

Any bonus points for moral victories?
Negative points for embarrassing beat downs?

2 wins is actually a horrible possibility if all the wheels fall off, and would have fans wearing paper bags on our heads.
3 is not unlikely and would be a hu.ge disappointment for new Coach Pritchard I'm sure.
4 is my pick. Which I think is actually optimistic given an overall very tough schedule.
5 would be a very good result in my book and I'd tip my cap with kudos to players and coaches.
6 would have me jumping up and down and pee my pants like an unhousebroken puppy.

As always, I hope I'm proven wrong with the team exceeding my very restrained expectations.

My prediction - No. Stanford does not have the speed, strength or depth on either side of the ball to compete with the better teams on its schedule.

I do think that Stanford can be competitive with the bottom half of the conference as was the case last year when Stanford beat Cal, BC and Florida State and lost to UNC. None of them finished with a winning record in conference.

I can’t seem to register my vote, but I’m at 5. Baby steps forward…

Me neither.

Ever optimistic 6-6. I couldn’t post first try

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - needle - 07-29-2026

Put me down for five games. I predict this is the year that one side of the ball (defense) is actually (slightly) better than average statistically.

Less sold on the offense, but there is arguably more talent at WR than last year and the OL should at least be a bit better. Really need Davis Warren to stay healthy, however. If he goes down (and his injury history is not great), this team is going to really struggle.

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - Mick - 07-29-2026

3-9. Going to be a tough year.

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - 82lsju - 07-30-2026

so let's assume we beat Hawaii (although that did not turn out well last year) and Elon.

The rest of our games include ND in South Bend (and yes we beat them there in 2022 but I'm not holding my breath this year).

Our ACC schedule (with the pre-season ACC predicted finish, and yes these often turn out to be inaccurate) has us playing a lot of teams predicted to be in the top half of the ACC (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 ) and the ones not in the top half (10, 12, and 13) we play on the road (hoping for no 9am or 10am PT kickoffs @Duke and @WF).

This seems like a steep climb to get more than four wins.....so my prediction is four....

vs Miami #1 in ACC pre-season poll
@ Duke #10
vs GT #5
@ WF #13
vs NCSU #7
@ Louisville #3
@ VT #8
@ Cal #12
vs SMU #2

After you choose the number of wins, just click on the word Vote at the bottom of the poll. It's not well highlighted, but that is what worked for me.

cautiously optimistic with 5

Worked like a charm…thank you!

Thanks, totally didn't see it, expecting it to be on the right side of the bottom bar, next to the other two buttons.  Instead, it is on the bottom left, and, as you pointed out, kind of hidden.

Thanks for letting folks know where to find the Vote button, Spiny Norman. Now that folks mention it, the button does seem more hidden this time around.

In any case, I went with four wins: Hawaii, Elon, Cal--because I always pick Stanford over Cal--and one more in conference.

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - SkiBum80 - 07-31-2026

I thought that 2 wins would be an absolute worst case outcome.
Leading to numerous fans in the stands wearing paper bags on their heads.
But someone has predicted just 1 win.
(Unless this is a trolling and wayward CAL fan)
Ouch!
I would guess a one-win season would lead to an angry mob wielding torches and pitchforks, and shouting out to hunt down the fiend!

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - BostonCard - 07-31-2026

I was one of the two win people.  Basically Elon and one other “upset” game.

I know that you put the word in quotes, but would you consider a Stanford home win over Hawaii to be an upset? At the moment, Stanford is favored by a field goal, give or take.

RE: 2026 Stanford Football predictions - BostonCard - 07-31-2026

Thanks for the info; I didn’t expect us to be favored in the game, but I guess home field, to the extent that we have one, is good for the difference.
