Amazing, and congratulations to Okorie! Losing a talent like him is a great problem to have if Coach Smith keeps finding and developing players like this. Stanford should be known as a program where next-level guys can find success at the next level.

Okorie's draft position probably wasn't hurt by Jalen Brunson, also 6'2", winning NBA Finals MVP.

Okorie posts have been all over social media (stanfordmbb, detroit pistons, etc) including Meeting AJ Hinch and throwing out the first pitch for the Tigers.

A part of me is sad that he won't have had 3-4 years of Stanford in his bones anchoring the university in his soul. Maybe one year was enough. Would it have been for me? I'm not sure. Maybe he'll go back and finish his degree (hopefully not remotely; Stanford is a special physical place). Don't forget us little fans during your long, successful career :)

Okorie plays today at 2:30 on Amazon Prime. I don't know if it's free for summer league but worth giving it a watch if you can.

Okorie had 20 pts on 8-16 shooting (2-5 3pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, four assists, two steals, and one turnover. Not a bad stat line, although Detroit was very much outrebounded--Philly had 15 offensive rebounds to Detroit's 25 defensive rebounds. Philly was also +9 AST and +9% 3pt% to win the contest 101-93. Detroit won the rest of the stat categories but unfortunately couldn't overcome the extra shooting volume given up by the rebound situation.

Okorie also looked to be going at 50 percent in the first half and picked up the intensity a little in the second.
I know the Piston's don't want him getting hurt and may be hoping to keep him under the radar a little while longer.

This was a pretty common phenomenon in Stanford games last year. He would try to share the ball initially. Then we would get behind or struggle, and he would take over in the second half. I can't imagine how few games we would've won last year without him.
Hopefully having 4 NBA players around him will bring out his passing more--and make him an even more effective driver.
