Stanford WNBA 2026 -

Per GoStanford, seven LSJU alums are in the WNBA to start the 2026 season, incl some familiar faces in new places (the ageless Ogwumike, now in LA; Alanna Smith on the touted Dallas team with Bueckers and Ogunbuwale et al.; Haley Jones with expansion Portland). There's also former LSJU players Carrington who is now on Chicago, Iriafen and Betts.
I saw that Lexie Hull got only ~ 15 minutes in the Fever opener. With Clark and Cunningham back from injury, and super scorer Mitchell, it's a crowded backcourt. But Hull does have her own t-shirt on BreakingT, a sure sign of stardom :--)

And Prechtel was signed to a hardship contract w/the Valkyries.

Brink played 8 minutes in the Sparks' season opening loss to Las Vegas. She had 3 rebounds, 3 TOs, 3 fouls, 0 points and a +/- of -19.

Concerning start for LA. Cam publicly got called out by the coach, and I know it was a blowout; but playing 8 minutes doesn’t help her get into rhythm at the start of the season. Very strange decision making by the coach- I would have had Cam play as many minutes as she could before fouling out.

LA may have a lot of options esp w Nneka's return. Maybe Cam ends up back in Portland!

Quick note - Lexie has been nursing a hamstring injury and was under a minutes restriction.
She has a very important role on the Fever who struggles to defend. Against Dallas, she did an amazing job on Bueckers.

So excited for Ashten! She may be hanging on by her fingertips on the edges of the league, but her persistence is paying off. I'm excited for her to play in Ballhalla and feel the love from the home crowd.
On that note, I have one ticket for a reasonably good seat to tomorrow's Valkyries game against the Chicago Sky. Any CardBoarders interested in seeing Ashten and Dijonai in action? Shoot me a message if so.
Also on the topic of Cardinal in the W, it was great to see Kiana on the court when the Phoenix Mercury came to town to play the Valkyries on Sunday. She played some good defense and had a couple of nice threes, and Tara and Amy were in the crowd to see it. (They came up on the jumbotron during one of the timeouts). And one more that I don't think has been mentioned: after spending her offseason rehabbing and interning with our WBB, Karlie Samuelson joins Haley on the roster of Portland's new expansion team.

This is such great news about Ashton. I was always a fan of hers when we played at Stanford. I'll be looking for her in the Valkaries games.
Re the 7 Stanford alums, maybe that should be a higher number? Kiki and Dijonai all graduated, even if they played their last college year elsewhere. So I count them as Stanford players in the WNBA!

GoStanford.com says 7 alums. I guess any player who transfers is permanently voted off the official LSJU island.

Makes me insane. At the very least, if a player has earned their degree, they should be included.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, John McEnroe....

agreed, makes it look like whoever made the decision is pretty insecure....

Well, IriaFEN kind of voted herself off the island, leaving something of a shipwreck in her wake [okay, readily admit to a mixed metaphor there…]
Also, I haven’t checked, but is the official Stanford site taking credit for having the 2d highest player drafted in the NFL this year?

Haley JONES waived by Portland. This is the 5th time she's been waived in her WNBA career.

Yeah when she ran into 3 point shooter (K Mitchell?) the other night and got a flagrant it became evident trouble might lurk ahead as it was bad defense compounded by bad judgment.

Meanwhile, Brink started and played 24 mins last night for the victorious Sparks, 16 pts, 8 reb (better totals than any of her 2025 games) - and also 6 turnovers, and, fouled out. So, the entire Brink Experience.

How's Jones 3 point game been since joining the WNBA? Her stock dropped big time her senior yr at Stanford because of her consistent lack of perimeter shooting. Still somewhat surprising she hasn't truly landed somewhere. If she can't make a roster with so many added spots this year with all the new teams, not a good sign.

Yes, also 2-4 on 3's, at least 2 blocks, and played many minutes with cotton plugs in her nose after being hit by a flailing arm. She started because Nneka had a sore hand.
