WBB: Final Four Games - martyup - 04-03-2026

Geno shows no class as his team gets beat 62-48. He got in Dawn's face at the end of the game and had to be restrained as he yelled at Dawn about something. He left his team and walked off the court alone.

UConn coaches are a piece of work.

For UConn to have that winning streak by 37 points a game, they sure didn’t look like a historical UConn team.

Geno thinks he owns the court/final four. He got caught with his pants down and pulled a grumpy old man.

Good for Dawn

I've always liked Dawn Staley, so happy that South Carolina won and UConn lost.  Real chance for UCLA to win a title now.  Here's the video of the end-of-game pleasantries.

UCLA went on a 9-0 scoring run to start the fourth and pull away, and at this point their 10 point lead might be enough; Texas has 28 points in 33 minutes.

SC is going to clean UCLA's clock Sunday.

I'm not sure about that, and this is coming from a Dawn Staley stan. They've no one to counter Betts, and if the Bruins get going from the arc, USC'll hard put to keep up.

And, less analytically, it just feels like UCLA and Cori collectively are due to get off the schneid.

UCLA reminds me of Stanford 2021. A talented team for which everything fell into place just enough to win it all. I'm rooting for them because they are a Pac 12 team with players from Oregon, Utah, WSU, and Stanford as well as UCLA in their top 6.

They also get a fair amount of credit for ending the PAC 12. Just sayin

The institution certainly gets most of the "credit" for it, but the dilemma is that the UCLA WBB team players and coaches themselves get none.

Think the demise of the PAC-12 was led by USC and their President at the time but a lot of the blame should probably be on Larry Scott and his poorly executed PAC-12 Network strategy. UCLA was given a choice and they accepted, as would Stanford if given the choice.

I'm not so sure the PAC--12 would have imploded if only USC left.  A lot of us would have said "Good riddance!".
There still would have been a Los Angeles market.

But, as you say, UCLA accepted.  That was a choice they made.  In my book, they are accountable for that choice.

Agreed.  To Hell with them.  I’m not over it.  Go Carolina.
Cheers,

I like to think that if Stanford was given the choice, it would have tried to drag both Cal and UCLA along. It still would have destroyed the Pac, of course.

In the past 25 years, only 8 coaches have won a national championship.  Shows how little parity there is at the very top.  Don’t want that to change this year as I can’t root for Betts / UCLA.

I'm rooting for UCLA too, the last group of players from the old Pac-12. And, unlike some on this board, I'd like Lauren Betts to get her championship. I wish it had been with us, but some of the issues that she went through here maybe causing issues with the team now...

With you, Oak, and good post.
