My two favorite teams. I am not happy!
I know, I know, I
should be happy.

It’s ok to not be happy. I am not ecstatic about missing the NCAA tournament, but hopeful for a string of wins to end the season on a much higher note and build momentum for next season.
Looks like game is Thursday at 7:00pm.

Anyone notice that tickets are less than half the price of last year's WBIT? I'm liking this trend.

Any explanation as to how they seed these teams? The seeds don't seem to align with the NET rankings.

BYU, North Dakota State, Utah, and Texas A&M were the first four teams left out of the field of 68 per the NCAA selection committee. I'm sure that's why those teams got the top seeds. Stanford wasn't one of them. Beyond that, not sure. Also, why is the championship in Wichita Kansas? Seems so random.

Well, Wichita is between Oklahoma City and Omaha, two other centrally located cities that regularly host college sports championships.
Another fun fact: The Arkansas River runs through Wichita, but it is pronounced "Ar-KAN-SAS", not "ARK-an-saw."

I'm actually not too crazy about OKC and Omaha always getting to host.
RE: WBIT -

Fair enough, although I don't think Wichita is a permanent host for the WBIT final four.
I think Oklahoma City gets to always host because it has a 13,000 seat venue which is unparalleled in the US, and the site of the Softball Hall of Fame. The next largest softball stadium is a little over 4,000 seats at the University of Oklahoma. And Norman, OK is the next city over from Oklahoma City, so that doesn't really improve geographic diversity.
Omaha has a 35,000 seat stadium that sells out during the College World Series. That more than doubles the next largest college baseball stadium in the US. So unless you can get a major league team to give up its venue for the College World Series for a couple of weeks in June, you'll have to compromise a lot in seat availability.

I discovered that these tickets are 'free' to season ticket holders, pass includes both games!

Oh? I'm a season ticket holder and was charged $30 for two tickets to the first game.

I was charged $15, too. I read it as no cost to guarantee your seats, but you're agreeing to let 'em charge your credit card on file for all games they host.
Last year I paid $40 for the same seat.

I was wrong, I DID have to pay $15 each.

On LMU...
LMU is a well-coached team trying to continue their second-best (IIRC) season in history. Coach is Aarika Hughes, who played for Mark Trakh at U$C, then joined him on the bench at New Mexico as well as at her alma mater.
They are the WCC regular season champions, besting Gonzaga and Oregon State. They have a
lot of experience with OT games, beating the Zags in Spokane in OT, beating OSU in OT, and during the WCC conference losing a close game to OSU.
Hughes plans around the following trio:
- Jess Lawson, Grad student. Started all but one game. 3-point threat, averages 15.1 PPG and 2+ steals.
- Andjela Matc, Senior from Serbia. Averages 10.4 PPG and one steal.
- Maya Hernandez, Junior from Archbishop Mitty, so I expect to see a lot of support there. Averages 10.4 PPG and nearly 2 steals.
The other two starters are both seniors (portal pickups, of course).
They play an up-tempo game on offense and disciplined defense. On paper, we should win this handily, BUT, they also play the type of game that makes me very, very nervous.
And they have some late-game inbounding plays that make me jealous.

Looking forward to seeing the local CardBoarders at the game(s) this week. And, with the possibility of hosting three home games in a row, we need all the fan support that we can muster, along with a negative result for BYU.
My household looked to buy our tickets early through GoStanford.com on Monday. We were surprised to see that few ticket were available at Maples, including our usual reserved seat in Section Four. So we bought two other seats and looked ahead to the game on Thursday night.
Yesterday, we checked back online and found lots of seats available, including our usual reserved seat, so we called Stanford Ticket Office today to inquire. Well, we found that we acted prematurely in buying on Monday. Today we were able to trade back our seats purchased Monday for our usual reserved seats. It was easy to do and the ticket office was genuinely helpful; and while we were finalizing our transaction, the new seats appeared on my wife’s phone! We are set!
Hope that info is helpful to any fan who made the mistake to buy early, and who would like to sit in their familiar section.
I’m hopeful that our team can finish with some victories and possibly go all the way! I think it will help to commit them to stay together for next season. They are such a likable, spirited, and dedicated team. Winning some tournament games could be the final glue for a successful season.

I would expect some very small crowds if we get some home games. WBIT and NIT games last year poorly attended.
Look at Minnesota. Last year won the WBIT and this season hosting 1/2nd round games at home as a top 16 seed.

Heck, Arizona's experience is my hope--win the WNIT, then in the next national championship game where they lost by only 1 point (albeit, 2 years later).

Too funny. As JP sez, the basketball world is a small world.
