$70! What are they serving, caviar and Dom Perignon?

It's freaking ridiculous. And not worth it.

No question it's pricey. But, FWIW, I'd have to say that the pre-game "tailgate" at the Orange Bowl [aside from the fact that it took forever to get past the security points, given that it took place on the mezzanine of the stadium itself, which does not appear to be the case this year] was one of the better such events I've attended over the [too many to count] years of going to things like that. The food/drink was very plentiful and pretty good; there was plenty of seating; and, there were enough souvenir buttons spread around to pick up several extras to give as gifts to those who didn't make the trip. If this one is as good --and, for the price, it better be ;) -- it will be worth it [at least, that's what I told myself when I clicked the button to order my tix.]Â
The alternative pre-game party, of course, is the "Official" Fieasta Bowl tailgate...which, for $20 [I think] promises a "plated" meal. There's just something about that term that leaves me...dubious.

Let's face it: the organizers of the official tailgater have fans by the short hairs. And they price it accordingly.
Our group put on one helluva tailgater at the Rose Bowl (6 kegs, spring lamb on a spit, etc.). But that took a lot of work by locals and was aided by prior experience of actually tailgating at the Rose Bowl. That doesn't apply here; thus, our group took the easy (but much more expensive) way out, and ponied up the bucks.
I doubt it will be "worth it" - especially for our kids - but relative convenience and lack of hassle made it the choice for us.
P.S. I agree that the Orange Bowl 'gater was done well - and given the largely adult fans in attendance, it worked. But I have two concerns about the Fiesta's ability to match last year's event: first, the sheer number of people will be greater (making all logistics tougher); and second, I expect a lot more kids there. I actually hope they have the event outside the stadium - you know, maybe even on some grass. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
P.P.S. Best official tailgater I've ever attended: the one for the recent Sun Bowl. It was inexpensive and very well organized. And they handled a lot of Stanford fans, too (but not nearly as many as I expect for the Fiesta tailgate).

It says the location will be a 5-10 min. walk to the stadium.

At the Orange Bowl, the Stanford official tailgate included an admission to the other activities outside the stadium, which normally would cost $20 with no plated meal, although you could buy food for extra I think. I wonder whether this year includes those equivalent activities?

$70?? Geez. I spent most of my Orange Bowl tailgate time with Toby the Van despite paying for the official tailgate inside the stadium (not 5-10 min walk). I ended up squeezing in a little bit of time at the official tailgate, which was kind of worth the money for the amount of time I spent there. I don't see how $70 would be worth the cost for a tailgate far away from the stadium if I also wanted to spend time at Toby the Van.

Toby's tailgate also had every Stanford from game that season playing on a laptop computer 8) That was my one contribution...and I hope to bring speakers this year. I should coordinate with the actual guys behind the scenes there...
