12th Football Game in 2026? - KartyFan - 11-29-2025
Looks like we have non-conference games against Hawaii, San Jose State, and Notre Dame (rumored?) next year, along with eight conference games. Five home games so far.
For 2026, ACC teams will play 8 or 9 conference games, with at least 10 games being against P4 opponents: ACC News
So we either will get an additional conference home game, or we will find another P4 team to play outside the ACC. Is that right? I can't imagine there are too many P4 teams looking for a game this late. But I suppose with so much realignment, non-conference games are getting moved all over the place. Wouldn't it be nice to play an old Pac-12 foe?

if we play another ACC team beyond the eight conference game it would be a non-conference game and not count in ACC standings. I doubt any ACC teams will take on a west coast trip to do that (I'm also too lazy to look and see if any still need a game in 2026). I'm also not convinced the ND series continues so we might be looking for two games.

Thank you, I didn’t realize it would be a non-conference game.
USC seems to be missing a game on its 2026 schedule, but I’m sure there isn’t enough $$ in coming to see us. And clearly they’ve thrown all tradition out the window, to the chagrin of the USC fans I know.

they''d probably be fine playing us if we were willing to play in LA...
and I'm not convinced they will continue playing ND, although some speculate that they may play them next year at a neutral site...if that happened they would have a third "neutral" site game in 2026 in addition to vs Wisconsin in Green Bay and vs Navy in Foxborough
if neither Stanford nor USC play ND than they are looking for two games next year

Most but not all ACC teams will go to the 9+1 model in 2026. Some will be at 8+2. I’m pretty sure ND will count as P4 for this purpose. ND is expected to play at least 5 ACC teams annually.
The 9+1 model will be fully in place in 2027.
Because of the odd number of teams,one team will be playing 8 conference games while 16 will be playing 9.

10/03 – at North Carolina
10/10 – HOME GAME TBA
10/17 – HOME GAME TBA
10/24 – TBA
10/31 – vs Navy (in Foxborough, MA)
11/07 – HOME GAME TBA

11/21 – HOME GAME TBA

Pitt just cancelled their game against Wisconsin.
Pitt and Wisconsin mutually agree to cancel 2026 matchup. They'll still face off at Dublin in 2027
I don't know how many FBS teams don't have a 12th game, other than Stanford or Notre Dame. A fair number of FCS schools do, in fact most might given that their division just went to a 12 game schedule.
