Mark Butterfield's son is playing for San Jose State.
I was watching the end of the Or St - SJS football game and kept hearing "Butterfield" and decided to look it up. Yes, he's Mark Butterfield's son.

He played well. Very good throws... Had a last second TD pass at the end of the game.

If I recall correctly, someone was pushing him hard as a great recruit for us. Apparently he had the grades and looks like he has the ability. Fairly local kid, too. Apparently, Shaw had no interest. I just can't put my finger on who his champion here was. . . . .

I think Phogge said Butterfield was going to win two Heismans. Oregon apparently wanted no part of that.

In this game, Chevan Cordeiro was the starter. Obviously, that can change but as of now Butterfield has a hill to climb.

Shaw had some issues, but this decision does not seem one to complain about. Unfortunately, not all our players offspring turn out as well as their father, but there were the McColls, McCaffery, Whitfield and a good many others who came and played well.

In SJS's 59-3 romp over Cal Poly, Butterfield was 0-2 in passing.
Wonder why he didn't play more.
Interesting to note Cal Poly's QB was Sam Huard, the former 5 star recruit who transferred from Washington. Wonder if he questioned his decision after that one.
