Football Coach Search Master Thread (Troy Taylor) - Phogge - 11-27-2022

Who stays to aid Eubanks to spearhead efforts to retain players and recruits? Lance? The entire staff?

I assume that there is a university “Rooney Rule” in place at Stanford. Who is on the committee to interview candidates?

The World Wonders. Sorry Lord Alfred.

All valid questions.  Who knows?  Maybe Shaw himself is on the committee.

Let's just hope the process to replace Shaw does not end like that infamous "Charge of the Light Brigade".

Who's going to be on the search committee? Condi? Andrew or Oliver? Sherman? Easy Ed?

Stanford Football moving on - BobK - 11-27-2022

First what Srs were Introduced yesterday. I appreciate some could return. But that’s a starting point. In the photo there were a lot

A new coach. Well Phogge and I have hoped for Sac State’s Troy Taylor. He’s undefeated. He is a great offensive mind
Down side maybe he’s 54. Yes a Cal grad but like John Ralston
Chris Peterson is 58 and hasn’t coached in 3 years but will be many favs favorite

So what’s next

Hire Bob Bowlsby to help lead the search for a new coach, he is retired so it will give him reason to get out of the house.

Yeah, considering the AD might have a search for its CFB and MBB coaches in the same academic year, time for Muir to realize what he isn't good at. (Hiring.)

Chryst had a good record at Wisconsin and we have a small connection there. If we’re trying for an established power 5 coach it’s tough to beat that.

I don't think that broad a statement is accurate. He clearly hasn't gotten MBB right, but he's made some pretty darn good hires in other sports.

I'm not sure what I want in the next head coach, other than someone who's got some different, fresh ideas and has the latitude from the AD to be a CEO.

Actually Muir and Dept are in a roll in hiring head coaches
Baseball
Softball
Men’s tennis
Men’s swimming
Women’s Volleyball
Track $ Field XC
Men’s water polo, Lacrosse and Field Hockey look good but early

RE: Stanford Football moving on - washingtonismoney - 11-27-2022

He's maybe not the most inspiring pick from a W-L perspective, but I've always been intrigued by Matt Campbell.

Sounds pretty good to me.

RE: Stanford Football moving on - Treefence - 11-27-2022

I wonder if we could possibly pull Lance Leipold away from Kansas.  I think he just signed an extension, but it wouldn't be the first time that happened.  He started at D3 where he won't championships galore.  Then turned a UB football team into a regular bowl team.  He seems to be turning Kansas around.

prime time

PRIME TIME

It'll never happen but the thought is amusing if not intriguing

RE: Stanford Football moving on - needle - 11-27-2022

Trust me, you don’t want Matt Campbell associated with Stanford.

I don’t know much about Leipold, but that would certainly win the press conference.

I would think that if Troy Taylor is on the short list, so would Brent Brennan at San José State? I know both have some fans but I also think it is a big learning curve going from a very small program to the PAC. Personally, I would be wary of Taylor for that reason.

I have been I intrigued by Willie Fritz since Tulane went to Oklahoma last year and lost by five points. He’s long been a coach’s coach but after Tulane’s success this season he’s emerged as a serious candidate at Georgia Tech.

RE: Stanford Football moving on - needle - 11-27-2022

There is some pressure on schools to have a hire in place by Dec. 5, the date that the transfer portal opens up.

From the article…

Bronco Mendelhall, Jay Hill and Troy Walter caught my eye.  Mendenhall, in particular….
