Halftime: Stanford MBB 34 Fresno State 30 -

So far Stanford looks like an energetic yet naive bunch buzzing around; occasionally looking effective but occasionally looking a bit clueless. There is the question as to why they still look this way years into Dawkins's tenure (or why Jarrett Mann is starting), but the season's young yet and I suppose we'll see how things turn out. As to specific players:
--Bright had an impressive first half, scoring 10 points in a variety of ways--off-the-dribble, off-the-jump-shot. Pressure unnerved him a bit too often for my taste, but overall I'm willing to give the thumbs up.
--Huestis looks highly athletic and is much smarter about deploying that. His wingspan is absurdly unfair and if he makes the transition to the perimeter successfully, could become a poor man's Andrei Kirilenko for us.

Anthony Brown looks awful out there. I know it's the first game, but I had real hopes that he would be the next Landry. Hopefully he gets his head in the game in the second half.

Bright is growing on me by the minute. Loved that behind-the-back pass.

I know he's a freshman, I'm sure he'll improve (and might even do so in the second half) but he's not having a good game at all.
Randle was one-of-four in the first half for two points--so bad, but not quite that bad. Had a couple of nice passes in the open court.
I like his defense quite bit for a freshman in his second game. Wants to pressure.
